February 17 and '8 is the Ore gon state conference of Daugh ters of the American Revolution with Mrs. William B. Pouch, president general as guest of honor. They will fly by plane to Boise, Idaho, and then continue the trip by motor to Sun Valley i Matlack was awarded the vaca tion trip with expenses paid by a Hollywood motion picture company for a publicity cam ; paign In connection with the motion picture, "Sun Valley Serenade" In this city. They plan to spend about eight days at Sun Valley and will return to Medford by plane, by way of Salt Lake City, Utah, and San Francisco. Young People Plan Fellowship Period The combined young people's groups of the First Christian church will hold a fellowship period Sunday afternoon from 5 until 6:30 o'clock. A short busi ness meeting will be held. At 8:30 p. m. a new series of young people's Sunday evening meetings will be Introduced by Ed Kirtley on the topic, "Chris tian Youth Building a New World." Five weeks will be given over to the discussion of this theme. Delta Debs Meet At Hayes Home Delta Debs met with Mini Dorothy Hayes at the J. C. nayes nome on cost wain street Tuesday evening. Two new members were taken Into the or ganization, Miss Jeanette House and Miss Jamie Brucgger. The group made plans for a month at Hotel Holland. Later j the members attended the show at Rlalto theater. Miss Dorothy Hayes was assisted by her sister, Miss Virginia Hayes. Operator Church Group Holds All-Day Sewing Session Mora than 80 women, mem bers of the Women organiza tion of the First Christian church met Thursday for an all day sewing session for China relief. A number of garments were finished and these will be sent to the Chinese who are In need of aid due to war In their country. Mrs. W. E. Meyers spoke on "Proper Nutrition and National Defense" during the business and fellowship hour. A number of progressive, teas,, luncheons and dinners are being sponsored by the group and they also an nounced their -. willingness to serve luncheons, dinners or ban quets for groups or, organiza tions.. .-; . . . . . Discussed Was 'the' contribu tion which the Women ' of the church could make to the wel fare of strangers who will be coming to the community dur ing construction of the canton ment. This is the second year of the- Women's organization and it Is reported to be filling a vital place in the First Christ ian church. Purpose Is to pro vide an efficient program of service and to extend the fel lowship of the church by bring ing women together to work at worthwhile tasks. Pythian Club Plans Red Cross Work Meeting at the home of Mrs. William Casebeer last week members of the Pythian club made plans for Red Cross work during their business session. About 20 attended and later refreshments were served bv the hostess assisted by her daugh ter, Mrs. Letha Ross. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Grace Fulk"rson. Girl Scouts Hold Court of Awards At Lincoln School Girl Scouts and their parents and friends attended Court ot Awards at the Lincoln school gymnasium Friday evening at 7:30 p. m. Grand President To Be Honored To be honored today is George Tank of Davenport, Iowa, grand worthy president of the Fratern al Order of the Eagles. Mr. Tank, in company with Aaron Reece, grand representative from Seattle, Wash., arrived last evening by train for a short visit in this city. The program today Includes registration of delegates, 9 'a. m. at Eagles hall, 42 North Front street; 11 a. m. registration of candidates for initiation; 1:30 p. m. Eagles meeting; 4:30 p. m. parade of drill teams from Rose burg, Klamath Falls, Medford and other visiting aeries; 9:30 p. m. dinner served by members of auxiliary drill team to Eagles and their families followed by a dance. Junior Guild Plans Dessert Style Show Junior Guild members of St. Mark's Episcopal church made plans for the dessert style show to be held April 13 at the par ish house when they met Wed nesday at the home of Mrs. Roland Halper, Third and Grape streets. Mrs. Halper was appointed chairman of the ohow to be as sisted by Miss Emlyn Griggs as decoration chairman; Mrs. Dick Watson, refreshment chairman and Miss Janet Mann, tickets and publicity. The business session was con ducted by Miss Betty Vilm, president. Later refreshments were served by Mrs. Halper with Miss Sue Moshberger as co-hostess. The Guild adjourned to meet February 11 with Mrs. Clayton W. Over 100 attend ed the dinner which was served at 6:30 p. m. in thi. Masonic dining hall at long tables dec orated in a Valentine motif. The officer's table was centered with a boquet of red and white car nations. Following dinner the group ddjourned to the bethel hall where Honored Queen Beverly Brooks presided during a busi ness session. Plans were made for a rummage sale to be held Saturday at the store next to Hal's Camera shop on North Central avenue. Miss Helen Webb and Miss Betty Frey are in charge of the sale. Four past queens, Miss Nan ette Holmes, Miss Charlotte Older, Miss Carol Tengwald and Miss Ruth Nordwick were es corted to the east and intro duced. Also introduced was Mrs. Thomas Freed, worthy matron of Reames chapter, O. E. S., who presented the bethel with a check to be applied on purchase of new robes. Mrs. Elsie Carlton Strang sang two selections' accompan ied by Mrs. C. O. Larlson. W. P. Brooks also sang two num bers accompanied by his daugh ter, Miss Beverly Brooks and a reading was given by Miss Clara Daniels, entitled "The Admiral's Ghost." Medford Residents Move to The Dalles Mr. and Mrs. Marlin Gramea left yesterday for The Dalles where they plan to make their home. Mr. Grames, an employe of Union Oil company, was transferred to The Dalles two weeks ago and returned this weekend for Mrs. Grames. They $ have been residing at 618 New " town street.
