PAGE ELEVEN LOCAL and Fines Levied Jack Matlacki was fined $2.50 in city court this morning (or parking his car in a theatre zone. Henry Nahss was fined $5 for driving a car without an operator's license. To Hemodel Carlos W. Mor ris of 806 West 10th street, ap plied at the city building inspec tor's office today for a permit to remodel a private garage into a sleeping room at a stated cost of 50. Arrives Horn Mrs. A. W. Foote of Sams valley returned here by train today after visit ing since Saturday at the home of her brother-in-law and sis ter, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Foote, in Junction City. With Cupp C. M. Hon, who has been identified with the furniture business here for many years, is now associated with the John Cupp Furniture company at Sixth and Bartlett streets. New Residents Mr. and Mrs. Dale Vincent, formerly of Seat tle, have established residence at 504 North Grape street. Mr. Vincent is a photogapher who specializes in portraits and tech nical illustrations. His work has been published in national mag azines, one titled "Booty" ap pearing in the December issue of Coronet. Mrs. Vincent is a short story writer, her works appearing in national maga zines. To Hold Hearing A public hearing will be held at 11 a. m. February 10 in the Jackson county courthouse on the appli cation of Wann E. Nosier of Sacramento, Cal., to acquire by transfer a permit authorizing operations as a contract motor carrier of property in intrastate commerce in Oregon, the state public utilities commission an nounced in a press release to day. The permit sought, now held by Clarence C. Cartwright, Medford, authorizes contract motor carrier transportation of property within Klamath and Jackson counties and from any point in these counties to any point in Oregon and from any point in Oregon to any point in the counties. Although im proved, she is unable to have company yet. To Portland Mrs. T. G'.. Bunch, 1628 East Main' street, plana to leave tomorrow by mo tor for Portland where she will spend the week-end with her husband. Dr. Bunch, who is re covering from an operation at the Veterans' hospital. Dr. Bunch expects to return to this city next week. All aliens who are contemplating becom ing naturalized citizens are urged to be present e e . e Minor Accident Sixth and Front street intersection was the scene of a minor mishap yes terday morning between cars operated by R. L. Bussey of 512 Bartlett street and Walter J. Cullop of Ashland, according to a report on file today. W. C. Pankey of Klamath Falls and J. C. Chamberlain of Ashland drove cars involved in a slight mishap at East Main street and Mountain avenue in Ashland yesterday, a report on file here said today. . . In Trailer Camp Mrs. Ed Mather, Route 4, brought to the Mail Tribune yesterday a clip ping from the Evening News, Vallejo, Cal., showing a picture of a trailer camp at Benicia, Cal., for employes of the Ben icia arsenal. The picture also showed an inside view of the trailer of Mr. and Mrs. Mather's daughter, Mrs. Joe Kolda, . the former Fern Mather of Route 4. In the picture, Mrs. Kolda was holding her tiny dog, "Snooks." Mrs. Kolda was graduated from Medford high school and was married last November. Her husband is a checker at the arsenal. Hearing Changed The state public utilities commission to day announced in presa re lease a change in the time of the public hearing on the ap plication of J. Orbin Cooksey. Medford car dealer, for a per mit to operate as a common motor carrier of passengers and their hand baggage anywhere for hire in Oregon. The hearing is now scheduled for 10 a. m. February 10 in the Jackson county courthouse. Hearing Set The state pub lic utilities commission an nounced in a press release to day that a hearing would be held at 1 p. m. February 10 in the Jackson county courthouse on the application of George E. Brickell of Grants Pass to ac quire by transfer the permit held by John A. Freeman of Williams. The permit author izes operations as a contract motor ' carrier of property in Oregon. Return Here Mrs. L. L. Simpson and son Ferris, return ed here by train this morning after visiting at the home of Mrs. Simpson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ferris Ford, in Okanogan, Wash. Mr. Simpson, employed by the army engineers here, has purchased the residence at 301 Valley View Drive. Mr. and Mrs. Simpson will be joined in early spring by Mr. Simpson's mother, Mrs. Lombard Simpson, of Tryon, N. C, who plans to make her home here for the duration of the war. First Aid Class A first aid class sponsored by American Red Cross will begin Monday at 7:30 p. m. in Roosevelt school gymnasium with Dr. O. J. Halboth as instructor. The course is for parents of the Roosevelt school district and those interested are asked to telephone Mrs. C. M. Starnes, 3650, or Miss Sara Van Meter at the schoolhouse. Organiza tion of an afternoon class is also planned with further details to be announced later. To Air Corps Robert (Bob by) Ettinger, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Ettinger of 824 West 12th street and a former Med ford high school football and basketball star, left by train this week for the naval train ing school at Sand Point near Seattle to begin training as a cadet Jn naval aviation. He passed his physical examination late in December. Robert's brother, Ray, is a flier in the navy and is now stationed in Hawaii, his parents believe. .
