S. de fense bonds being purchased by its employees under the payroll i allotment plan, according to word received by R. B. Ham mond, manager here. ' In an official announcement, N. R. Powley, president of the company, said: .-- "Our resources, facilities and personnel are all directed to ward our company playing its full, effective and patriotic part In this great national emerg ency. We count it not only a real privilege, but also an honor to be of service to our government in acting as Its issuing agent for the United States defense sav ings bonds. Further, this ar rangement we are placing in effect and the same Is true of all large employers who become an Issuing agent will lighten the load on the Federal Reserve Banks and other selling agents who have been swamped with orders. "In August, 1938, arrange ments were made for the pur chase of United States aavings bonds by payroll allotment.
