SIXTH AND RIVERSIDE BY SOUGHT FOR BOYS Books by the million will change hands in the National De fense Book Campaign starting Monday when readers in homes throughout the land will share books they have enjoyed with the soldiers, sailors and marines. The campaign, sponsored by the American Library associa tion, American Red Cross, and United Service Organizations, seeks ten million books for USO houses, army "dayrooms." ships, naval bases, etc. Books should be taken to libraries, where they will be sorted, repaired if neces sary, and sent on as quickly as possible to the service men. In many communities, schools and other conveniently located places will be designated as collection centers. Unbound magazines and newspapers will not be handled. Although the Government pro vides libraries in the larger camps, the smaller units have no library at all, and even in most camps where libraries do exist, the demand for recreational reading Is usually far greater than the supply. Books provided through the book campaign will thus supplement the govern ment's existing library facilities. About the kinds of books to be collected well, what kinds of books do you like? Our sol diers and sailors have a wide range of reading interest and like those very titles, tool They are particularly eager for up-to-date technical material to help with their problems, as well as books on current affairs, and plenty ot good fiction. Put your name and address In the books you give the boys win dc imerestea to know "who gave what!" MIPS POOR SHOTS Batavia, Netherlands East In dies.
