The story of "Charley's Aunt" Is almost too well known to bear repetition. Benny portrays the title role, that of a chap who helps out two college pals by masquerading as his friend's aunt. Kay Francis is the real aunt who turns up at the most in opportune moment and James Ellison is the nephew who needs Benny's aid. Several years ago, when the picture was first shown here, Ned Sparks and Buddy Rogers were about the only ones who were very well known. Fibber McGee and Molly had Just start ed getting popular with radio fans; Betty Grable was known only as one of the best looking girls in Hollywood with a flair for dancing; Mary Livingstone was becoming popular on Jack Benny's radio show. Now Fibber McGee and Molly are among radio's top favorites; Betty Grable has become one of the screen's most popular young stars and Mary Livingstone has grown in popularity as Benny's show has moved to top position on the air and Benny himself has become one of the screen's ranking favorites. It was due to the cast, and the snap with which they per formed their parts in the show, that resulted In the re-booking of "This Way Please".
