They motored to Eugene yesterday with their daughter Patricia, who is entering her first year at the University of Oregon. To Active Duty Orders is sued in Portland today assigned John A. Jordan, a first lieuten ant in the infantry reserve, to active duty with the air corps, at Boise. Lieut. Jordan was for merly commanding officer at the Williams Creek CCC camp. Paxton, 47, of 1207 East Jack son boulevard, was cited by state police yesterday to appear in Justice of the peace court at 2 p. m. September 18 charged with failure to stop at a high way intersection. Floyd L. Somers, 30, of 202 South Orange street, was cited to appear this afternoon charged with viola tion of the basic traffic rule. Rear Stairs Blaze at Rooming House On West Wain St. The rear wooden staircase of the Oregon Rooms over Pick's hardware store. 223 West Main street, was practically ruined by ure late yesterday afternoon. Smolderine embers in the. in; cinerator, near the stairway, evidently ignited a pasteboard carton on top the trash burner, the burning carton fell over on top of other cartons stored near, and all the cartons caught fire and ignited the stairs, Mr. Ca noose said. The fire spread up the stair way rapidly and smoke poured into the rooming place, operated by Mrs. Theresa Warner. The property is owned bv W. V. Thomas. Mr. Canoose said he advised moving the incinerator to a safer place and putting a screen top on it.
