Morgan of Trujillo City, Santo Domingo, the oldest city in the new world will be guest speaker at the Women's Missionary society of the First Presbyterian church Tuesday when the annual mis sionary luncheon will be held at 1 p. m., at the church. Mrs. E. Iverson will have charge of the devotions with Mrs. E. G. Randolph presenting several music selections. The speaker's husband is superintendent of the inter denominational work in the Do minican republic under the Board of Christian Work in t Santo Domingo, with which three boards cooperate, the Presbyterian church, U.S.A. Methodist and United Brethern. Mrs. Morgan has made a spe cial contribution to the music of these churches and is also principal of the community school in which English speak ing children are enrolled. Mrs. Morgan has addressed many church groups and has ac cepted a commission to write one of the missionary study books for 1942-32 and recently made an extensive tour of the Caribbean area visiting the mis sion field. During her stay in this city she will be the house guest of Mrs. A. J. Hanby, 435 North Holly street. Grimes, 906 South Holly street announce the wedding of their son Dean, to Miss Rose Arceri. The ceremony was read July 5 at 5 p. m. at the St. Patrick's church, San Jose, Cal. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Grimes visited tecently with Mr. Grimes' parents in this city and have returned to their home, 456 East St. James street in San Jose. Mr. Grimes is stationed at Moffett field, Cal., with the medical department. Group Sews For Red Cross Mrs. Agnes Koppes was host esse to Fidelity circle of the Women's Society of Christian Service of the Methodist church during the last week. Devotions were read by Miss May Phipps with scripture reading and se lections from the "Upper Room." Following a short business ses sion Mrs. E. W.- Brainerd took charge of the program. A brief resume of the work eccomplished in the year fol lowing the uniting of the three Methodist churches was given. About 22 attended and during the social hour hemmed baby blankets for the Red Cross. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Koppes and Miss Phipps. Dorothy Gore Leaves Tuesday Miss Dorothy Gore, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Gore of 116 Geneva street, is leaving Tuesday for Oakland, Cal., where she will board the South ern Pacific Challenger for Chi cago and then to Rochester, N. Y. Miss Gore will enter the Eastman School of Music at Rochester where she has been awarded a full scholarship with a major in violin and musical reportoire. " Miss Gore has been spending the past six weeks in Medford with her parents. She attended University of Oregon and grad uated from Pomona college with s major in music. She has been attending Pomona college for the past two years on a fellow ship. Shower Honors Dorothy Nissen Miss Dorothy Nissen, bride- elect of Herbert Gifford, was honored with a miscellaneous shower Wednesday evening at the home of Evelin Winning ham, 1211 East Main street. W. Winning ham. Musical Society Begin Activities Medford Musical society will open fall activities with a busi ness and social meeting at the H O. Purucker gardens, 13 Glen Oak court Monday at 8 p. m. Mrs. M. N. Hogan, newly-elected president, will be in charge of the meeting. A short program has been arranged by Mrs. J. C. Boyle, program chairman. Busi ness of interest to all society members will be discussed and officers request a good attend ance. Mrs. Faber Gives Review Mrs. Everett Faber reported on "The Shenandoah and Its By ways by W. O. Stevens at the Travel Study club meeting Mon day at the home of Mrs. E. H. Hurd, 1136 West 10th street. Mrs. Earl Moore told of her visit to Glacier National park, giving interesting bits aoout glacier formations, trees, plants and animals to be found in that section. Members answered roll 'call with accounts of their vacation activities. P.-T. A. Activities Lincoln School Mrs. W. R. Glass was elected president of Lincoln school P.-T, A. at a meeting held in the assembly room Friday after noon. Forty attended the open ing session. An executive com mitte recommendation that a Hallowe'en frolic be held to raise money for the year's budget was approved and a committee appointed. During business session a re port was made on Red Cross sewing, a project carried on by Linco'n school through the sum mer months with five or six members completing a large number of garments. A social hour followed with Mrs. Om Reading's room being awarded the attendance prize 16 mothers attending from the winning room. Elk Creek Elk Creek P.-T. A. held its first meeting since May at the schoolhouse Friday afternoon with Mrs. Olga Brill, new presi dent, in the chair. Mrs. William Brooks will be assist ant hostess. whose marriage was an event GARDEN CLUB Mrs. Daniel Heffner, state president of the Garden clubs, explained the work of the fed eration and discussed impor tance of better exhibits at flower shows and better quali fied judges at an all-day session held Tuesday at Ashland. Reports were heard during the morning followed by a pot luck luncheon at noon. Repre sentatives were present from various clubs in southern Ore gon. Mrs. Eunice Curtis of Seattle spent Wednesday in Medford visiting various gardens and in the evening talked to club members on flower arrange ment. Mrs. Curtis, who does not follow the set rules of Jap anese or most American author ities on flower arrangements, takes material at hand, selects a suitable container and works for both line and mass effect. Mrs. Curtis explained that line must be free, flowing and color a matter of feeling but that each color used must flatter the other. Texture must be con sidered as contrasting or for ciose relationship and balance, harmony, rhythm and pro-'or-tion must be considered In achieving a finished and pleas ing arrangement. Speaker at the October meet ing will be Mrs. A. V. Turner of Waldport, who is an author ity on heathers. Mrs. James Owen entertained the club recently at her home at which time the club took up the study of unusual flowers, shrubs and their propagation as the year's topic. Slides on bulb cultivation were shown. Mem bers were asked to begin plan ning now for spring plant sale by sowing seed and rooting de sirable shrubs and perennials. (P) (Cana dian Press) Victory in a seven year fight by Olivia Dionne to bring his children together un der one roof appeared near to day when it was reported that the quintuplets would be re stored to the parents by an order-in-council of the Ontario cabinet. It was understood that the authority of the board of guar dians, which now governs the affairs of the quints at theii nursery home near Callander, Ont., would be relinquished as regards parental control and general living conditions. The board, however, probably will continue to direct the finan cial affairs of the five sisters whose Joint fortune now totals more than $1,000,000. Portland, Ore., Sept. 13.
