' liW Radio Dramatic Group Holds Dinner Meeting Members of the Radio Drama tic group gathered at the Hotel Holland Coffee shop Friday eve ning for a dinner meeting. Later the EroiiD presented impromptu entertainment and visited. The group, under the direc tion of Miss Valeria Whitney, plans to present an adaption of "The Necklace'' by Guy de Mau passant on tile radio in the near future. The adaptation has been written for the group by Miss Helen Norria of brookficld Or chards, script writer for the Na tional Broadcasting company, who was unable to attend the dinner. Meetings are held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday eve nings at 8 o'clock in room 8 at the Jackson County Rank build ing during which time script reading and rehearsals are held. All Interested are invited to par ticipate. Luncheon will be served at 1 p. m. followed by showing of full styles by nine Medford merchants and several beauty salons. Chicken Dinner Honors Two At Old Stage House The Misses Carlin Piatt and Jeanne McKay were honored with a chicken dinner Friday evening at the Old Stage House by girls in the Copco tabulating department. Both are leaving soon to at tend college. Miss Piatt will enter Oregon State college and Miss McKay will resume studies at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Attending were Mrs. David Irving. Miss Leila Carlton, Mary Lee Strang, Jeanne Hamilton. Audrey Trice, Gweneth Poling, Maxine Colbeigh and the hon ored guests. Julie Carpenter Leaves For School Bronxville. N. Y Sept. 13. (Spl) With a capacity enroll ment of 296 students, Sarah Lawrence college begins its 14th year tomorrow. Thirty-eight states, Hawaii and China, are represented In this year's rec ord student body, in which 269 are resident and 27 day stu dents. Miss Henninger Weds Mr. Thrift In Roseburg Of Interest to Medford resi dents is announcement of the marriage of Miss Madeline Hen ninger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Henninger of Win chester, Ore., to Ralph Thrift, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Thrift of Coquille, Sept. 4 at 10 a. m. at the Episcopal parsonage in Roseburg. The ceremony was read by the Rev. Perry Smith, rector of the Episcopal church in that city. Following the ceremony the couple left for a honeymoon trip to Mexico City. Upon their return they plan to make their home in Coquille. The bride is a graduate of Roseburg high school and at tended University of Oregon. Mr. Thrift attended Stanford university and is associated with his father in the grocery busi ness in Coquille. Wash. They mo tored north inland visiting with friends and returned by the coast route from Aberdeen, Wash. Mr. Hagerty spent his boyhood in Tacoma and this was his first return trip. Open House Celebrates Spihers 50th Anniversary Celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary during the last week were Mr. and Mrs. H. F. W. Spilver of 520 South Hamilton street. Residents of Medford for the past 17 years the Sptlvers were greeted by many friends at the First Pres byterian church parlors Tuesday evening where open house was held from 8 until 11 o'clock. The parlors were decorated with fall flowers and large bas kets of pampas grass stood on either side of the fireplace. The service table was centered with marigolds and lighted tapers with Miss Clara Daniels and Miss Barbara Randolph presid ing at the punch bowl. Arrangements for the recep tion were made by members of Merritt circle of the Presbyter ian church of which Mrs. Spilver is a member. Mrs. E. G. Randolph was chairman as sisted by Mrs. R. S. Daniels and Mrs. W. E. Tumy, with Mrs. Mark Geary of Portland, and Mrs. Ralph Sweeney assisting about the rooms. Wednesday a family dinner was held at the Spilver home attended by 14. Four of the nine grandchildren were pres ent for the occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Spilver were married at Joliet, 111., Sept. 1891, moving later' to Chicago where they resided for twenty- five years before coming to Medford to make their home Mrs. Spilver was Gertrude Searles before her marriage. Mrs. Martin Geary, daughter of the late Rev.
