Proclamation WHEREAS, the unregulated use of certain forest areas is. in the judgment of the State For ester, a menace to life and prop erty due to conditions tending to cause or allow the rapid spread of fires which might occur or because of the Inaccessible char acter of such areas due to the lark of suitable roads, and WHEREAS, upon the showing of the State Forester it appears to me to be necessary to close to unregulated use the following areas designated as: All National Forests In Ore gon except the Siuslaw Na tional Forest. NOW, THEREFORE, I, DEAN H. WALKER, Gov ernor of the State of Ore gon, by virtue of the au thority vested in me under the provisions of Section 107-210, Oregon Compiled Laws Anno tated, do hereby proclaim the unregulated use of the above described areas to be unlawful and do hereby close said areas and the same shall be sublect to use only iiDon condition that entrants shall comply with all of the following requirements or conditions: 1. To refrain from smoking while traveling in such areas, except on paved or surfaced hihways. 2. To secure a permit Issued by the forester or a fire warden before building a campfire other than at improved, designated and posted camp grounds on such nreas. 3. To have as a part of Ms or her equipment when using camp fires, except when travel ing as a pedestrian, and 'or camping at Improved, desig nated and posted camo grounds, tools as snecified by the forester suitable for extinguishing fires. Dear Senator: Am writing you concerning Senate Bill 860, which Is to pro hibit prostitution and the sale of liquors near army and navy camps. I understand that this bill is lying in a committee of the United States Senate, and will probably die there unless we Christian and better class citizens demand It be brought out and passed. I also understand the brewery association of the United States considered It a great victory when the officers of our army demanded that beer be sold on the cantonment grounds to our boys. Many of our boys don't drink, and we don t want them called sissies and out-of-date be cause they are morally of a higher standard than the others. Let's bring them all up to a high standard!
