Rials, CCC subaltern, reported at dis trict headquarters here this morning. Mr. Rials has been assigned to Camp Orleans, Call fornia. and will depart shortly to assume bis duties there. Substitutes Gilbert M. Od die, assistant Medford CCC dis trict educational adviser, de parted this morning for Camp Minersville where he will re main for 10 days, taking over educational duties for Raymond E. Taber, camp adviser, who Is on annual leave. Board To Meet Directors of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce will hold a luncheon-meeting Friday noon in the Hotel Medford. Invited to meet with the board are chairmen of standing committees, the city council and the county court Plane Passengers Mrs. T. Showalter and daughter Susie arrived from Oakland, Cal., by United Mainliner this noon, Departing were B. Courtright. to Portland, and H. Ricks, to Seattle, Wash. Arriving from Portland on the forenoon plane were Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Davis and son, R. G. Davis. R. Hin man left for Seattle on the early morning plane. Arriving from Portland last midnight were Capt. W. McBee and C. Han- num. w. May left for Oakland. Cal. Arrivals last night were O. Apperson and Mrs. F. Young, from Los Angeles. Arriving from Portland on the evening plane were R. Strattford. Miss E. Throckmorton, G. Fields and R. Sweeney. Departing on the T same plane were Mrs. E. Moore and baby, to San Francisco, and A. Livingston, CCC inspector - in structor, returned to headquar ters here this morning from an inspection trip in the southern zone. He was accompanied by Marion R. Anderson, clerk, also of Medford headquarters. To Repair D. C. Franklin applied at the city building inspectors office yesterday to repair a business building at 437 South Central avenue at a 'stated cost of $350. Nellie Gullifard of 135 Almond street applied for a permit to reshingle her residence at a stated cost of $100. . In New Job Frank Cronn, technical service toolroom clerk at the Williams Creek CCC camp since last January 30, is now employed as a custodian at the State Tuberculosis sani- torium in Salem. His home Is in Salem and he quit the CCC to accept the job at the sani- torium. Continue Trip Mr. and Mrs. Homer Melville and daughter Janice and Mr. Melville a moth er, Mrs. Bertha Melville, of Santa Rosa, Cal., continued their motor trip north today after a week-end visit at the farm of Dr. and Mrs. Bert El liott, Route 2. Mrs. Elliott and Mrs. Homer Melville were class mates at Santa Rosa Nurses school and later were employed in the hospital at Santa Rosa. Picnic Planned Meeting In regular weekly dinner-session at the Hotel Medford last night, the Active club laid plans to hold a stag picnic next Tuesday night in Prescott park. Wallace Brill, Burt Lowry -and Gerald Latham were appointed by President Jack Nail to make all arrangements. Ernie Savage transferred his Active club membership from the Salem to the Medford chapter at the meeting. Work Nearly Done Renova tion work on Medford CCC district headquarters is rapidly nearing completion under the direction of Harris M. Olson. Linoleum has been laid in the front offices, the ceilings and side walls have been painted and the newly-laid floor in the main offices has been waxed. when a few odds and ends receive their coat of trim, the work Will be rnmnlet.H A .. cording to Mr. Olson, the work will be finished Thursday night or rnaay morning. - At School John Pai-far Tennessee youth who came to the Williams Creek CCC camp a year ago, is now attending an aeronautics school in Los An geles, completing a court which ne Degan through correspond ence while at the camp. THE GRANGE Phoenix Grange Attention of all Grange mem bers Is called to the dinner for grangers and families to be held at Phoenix Grange hall Satur day night. A bountiful dinner will be served about 7 o'clock. Each lady is asked to bring two dishes, a salad and a dessert, or a vegetable and another dish. The meat dish will be Uken care of by the committee in charge, Ida Birdsall, Laurel Pol ing, and Gladys Harris. Twelve members will be initiated. CONDITION SAME No change was noted by Sacred Heart hospital attend ants today -in the condition of Stephen J. Cline, chief time keeper on the WPA airport project, who was painfully but not critically injured in the head-on collision Monday night between his car and a Pacific Greyhound stage two and a half miles north of Medford. Cline suffered a fractured jaw, lacer ations of the head and body and Injured ribs. The nine stage passengers who were injured in the crash were still confined in Sacred Heart and Community hospitals, but none of them were serious and all were reported resting easily. Several of them were expected to be released probably tomorrow. FIRE BOYS GIVEN Men of the city fire depart ment were treated to dinner at their headquarters last- night by Adjutant and Mrs. Charles K. Cox, heads of the Salvation Army here. It was a surprise for the fire laddies In appreciation of the work they did in overhauling the old Shady Cove school bus donated to the Salvation Army by the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Several local firms con tributed new parts for the bus. Special dinner guests included Mayor H. S. Deuel and George T. Frey, chairman of the Salva tion Army advisory board. Joe Price Opening Price's Candyland West Main Street Joe Price, well known Med ford candy manufacturer, has opened Price's Candyland on West Main across from Copco, with a complete line of home made candies, home mad Ice cream and fountain service, ac cording to an announcement to day. The room has been complete ly remodeled and repainted. The large candy plant, which occu pies the rear half of the room, will supply candy for the new store as well as Lester Price's Confectionery and store in Klamath FalU. Joe Price opened Price's candy store on East Main six years ago. He sold it to his brother Lester and operated a store in Klamath Falls for three years. Since returning to Medford he has operated a candy plant.
