PAGE SEVEN LOCAL and PERSONAL "The Shark Woman" Here Thursday Arrives Mrs. Harry Caton of Winfield, Kan., arrived here to day by train to visit her son-ln-law and daughter, Dr. and Mrs. George Jennings, of Saginaw, Drive. Mr. Caton plans to mo tor west in August. Stops Hare Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Roberts of Yountville, Cal., stopped in Medford yesterday for a brief visit with old friends. Mrs. Roberts is the former Mab el Wilson, once a Medford resi dent. Raturn Horn Mr. and Mrs. Bren Starcher and daughter, Ro bene, returned last night to their home on the Jacksonville-Phoenix road after a two weeks' va cation in Centralia and Olympia. Wash. Minor Accident Bill Peyton of 11321-4 Court street and John P. Nansen of Route 3 drove cars Involved in a minor accident on the airport road a mile and a half from Medford yesterday af ternoon, a report on file said to day. Transferred Lester C. Pritch ett, educational adviser at Camp Leaf, Bray, Calif., was a caller at Medford CCC headquarters yesterday. Because of the riis bandment of his company, Mr. Pritchett is being transferred to Camp McKlnley. Fined $5 Max E. Coble. Medford, was fined In city court Tuesday afternoon on a charge of failure to stop at a stop street. Kenneth H. Patton of Valley View Drive, charged with viola tion of the basic traffic rule on East Main street Tuesday after noon, was cited to appear in city court Saturday morning. Aids Transfer James H. Cooper, company commander at Camp South Umpqua Falls, Til er, was a business caller at CCC district headquarters here to day. Cooper is effecting the transfer of the men from Camp Gasquet to their new station at Camp South Umpqua Falls. He was formerly in command at Alkali Lake, one of the recently disbanded companies. At Airport Today's arrivals at Medford municipal airport included Capt. C. P. Lessig, from Hamilton field, San Rafael, Cal in a Curtiss pursuit plane, and Lieut. C. P. Tourtcllot, Eugene to Hamilton field in a Curtiss pursuit plane. Lessig was to re turn to his station after conduct ing business pertaining to the 20th pursuit group's camp at the Elks picnic grounds. To Picnic CCC staff officers and their wives will enjoy a pic nic lunch at Ashland's Lithia park Saturday night. Immediate ly afterward they will assemble at the Twin Plunges to witness the seventh annual water carni val which will be statred bv members of the water first Bid and life saving school, under the ' direction of Ferno Harness. The I picnic lunch will be served at 7 o'clock. The water carnival j will begin promptly at 8. ! Road Planning Immediately after his arrival by train this morning, Thomas A. Rice, divis ion of engineering, U. S. region al forester's office at Portland, left for Lake O' Woods to con fer with Karl L. Janouch, super visor, and Robert Mercer. Con struction superintendent of Ro gue River national forest. The three men were to confer on 1 plans for the gravel surfacing of the Dead Indian Soda Springs road this year. i Plane Passengers Arriving' this noon by United Mainliner were C. Bechtold and E. Jenney, from Portland, and S. Kevenor. from Seattle, Wash. Departing were Mrs. Rose Simmons, to Sac ramento, Cal., and R. Morey and Nion Tucker, to San Francisco Mrs. Emory Culbertson arrived from Oakland, Cal., on the ear ly morning plane. Leaving were ; A. Henrikscn. to Seattle, and F. Kastor. to Portland. Arriving from Portland on the midnight ; plane were C. Frost, Martin Luther. Jr., and Mrs. M. Root. E. Oldham departed for Seattle last night. Arriving on the eve ning plane were Mrs. B. Hauger, from Seattle, and R. Marson, from Portland. Mr. and Mrs. G. Cameron and E. Holbrook left for San Francisco. Henriksen arrived from Oakland on the af ternoon plane and H. Klehmet left for Portland on the same plane. Meeting Announced Boys and Girls Aid Society commit tee will meet at 5:15 p.m. Thurs day in the Red Cross rooms at the county courthouse. "Floated" Jerry McCarthy, 45. transient arrested by city police for drunkenness, was told by City Judge Allen D. Curry this morning to leave town Im mediately or spend ten days in jail. He said he would leave. To Visit Mrs. Emory Cul bertson of Alameda, Cal., arriv ed here this morning by United Mainliner to spend a few days visiting her parents. Campbell of 605 Dakota avenue, long-time resident of Medford, died in her home about 10:30 Tuesday night.
