AIR CORPS HERE Seven men were enlisted for the army air corps through the local regular army recruiting of fice during the first three weeks of June, according to Sergeant Joseph W. Cushman, local re cruiter. They were: Richard A. Morgan, son of Mr. and Mrs, W. J. Morgan. 429 S. Central; Charles E. Crippen and Dennle E. Jerome of Grants Pass; John F. Denny of Drew; Sidney A Knopf, Days Creek; Donald W. Eldridge and Russell A, Rasmus sen of Arlee, Montana, who were visiting In Medford at the time of their enlistment. The men will go to Jefferson barracks, St. Louis, Mo., to un dergo 12 weeks of recruit train ing, and then be assigned to some air corps unit in keeping with the type of work they wish to follow. June 26. (eP) The maiden flight of the army's huge bomber, the B-19, was postponed again Wednesday when engineers discovered the brakes were not working prop erly. A statement by engineers rep resenting the army and the Douglas Aircraft company, which built the $3,300,000 bomber for the air corps, said "unsatisfactory conditions o f grabbing in the huge brakes" had caused the decision to com pletely correct the source ot the trouble before attempting the flight from Clover field to March field. Engineers Indicated the ad justments probably would be completed in a few days. A previous delay In the take off was caused by brake trou ble. SWEDEN TO GIVE NAZIS PATHWAY Stockholm, June 28. (JP The Swedish government an nounced tonight that it had agreed to permit the passage of a German force of not more than one division across Its ter ritory from Norway to Finland. The Germans will travel by the Swedish railways. The gov ernment said its action was taken after consulting parlia ment. UP) Construction of Lakeview's new $28,000 reservoir, to be built in three sections with a total capacity ot 500,000 gal Ions, progressed rapidly today on the hill east of town. B. K. Snyder, chairman ot the Lakevlew water commis sion, (aid two sections would be completed this summer, the third as funds became available. Plans Include a chlorlnation plant and continued use of the old reservoir. Storage capacity will be six times that of the old reservoir. Budget Director David Eccles told the board that some de partment cars bear state labels that can hardly be seen with the naked eye. The board said It felt that if such labels were placed on all cars so that John Public could spot them easily, state of ficials and employes wouldn't be likely to use the state cars for pleasure trips.
