The little New England town where I was born now has a popula tion 50 percent Polish. In Los Angeles, where I live, wa have a mixed population. It Is good to know there is a place like JHedlord. S. army cantonment in the Eugene vicin ity, left Eugene by plane Wed nesday night for San Francisco where he will meet today with a board of U. S. army officers on camp site selection. Mr. Merriam was invited by the constructing quartermaster corps, to express the communi ty s viewpoint at thia meetine- where decision will be made as to which of the six nrnmasd sites in this area is most suitable for the proposed army camp. Detailed surveys nt th aiv sites have been made by the sur veyors and engineers connected with the Eugene army office and will be presented at this meeting.
