Cuast Mrs. Claud Mankc ar rived a few days ago from San Francisco, and is a guest of Mr. Manke'a sister, Mrs. Dean Salt marsh, at Oakgrove. Manager Hart Philip J. Sin nott of San Francisco, Pacific coast manager of NEA Service, Inc., and Acme Newspictures, Inc., transacted business here to day. He was en route north by car on an extensive business tour of the northwest. Laava Today Mr. and Mn. S. 1 D. Letr left this morning by motor for their home in Chicago by way of the coast route after visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Kirkpatrlck, 713 East Jackson boulevard for the past week. Commands Train Cledoua M. Mangum, commander of com pany 5443, Camp China Flats, Powers, arrived today In Med- ford. He has been assigned as commander on a CCC train leav ing Klamath Falls, June 12 with enrollees returning to Alabama and Florida. Samuel E. Lowry. subaltern at Camp Applegate al so reported today for troop train duty. He will accompany Man gum, acting as assistant train commander. Train Duty Rupert T. Gil bert, commander of Camp Har rison Gulch, Cal., arrived today in connection with CCC casual train movements. He was to command the train leaving today from Grants Pass. Tourtellot, who arrived from Fall River, Cal., in a North American combat plane and de parted for Hamilton field, San Rafael, Cal., after his plane had been refueled: and Capt. L. N. Destain. Cal., where he will re sume his duties as a CCC travel ing dentist. Dr. Mulholland was formerly In private practice here. To Tennessee Departing to day from Klamath Falls a CCC train in command of Subaltern Fred A. Trembly of Camp Baird to Redding, Cal., will have as its final destination Chattanooga. Tenn. In all movements, a total of 2424 enrollees will be re turned to the fourth corps area for discharge and reassignment. . i Plane Passengers O. Gage left for Portland on the same plane. Arriving on the midnight plane were Mrs. E. T. Burelson, from Portland, and R Dcsch, from Seattle, Wash. De parting on the same plane was H. weinsteln to San Francisco Leaving for Portland on the sec ond section of the flagstop Main liner last night were D. Guntert and O. Lawson. Arriving yes terday afternoon were Miss E. Bailey, from Los Angeles: Mrs. O. Lawson, from Oakland, and H. Weinstein, from San Fran cisco. Departing for Portland on the same plane were C. Daw son, Berkeley, Snow J. Cooksey and Mrs. C. Saulsberry. Annual fire guard training camp for Rogue River National forest will be held at Carberry Wednesday. Thursday and Fri day. Fifty-three fire guards will attend. The first morning wilt be de voted to general assembly dis cussion of forest policies and tests in first aid. For the re mainder of the school, the men will study the fire-finder, fire chasing, fire suppression, map reading and compass and pacing. , Experienced guards will be given training in the supervision of CCC crews, fire behavior and ; duties of fire foremen. I Maurice Tedrow, assistant for- I ester in charge of fire control, will conduct the school. Rangers and protective assistants will be instructors. Ranger Lee Port is ; in charge of camp arrangements and meals. ANGLER PAYS $29 Milton H. Gardner of Tufe Lake, Calif., visiting here over the week-end paid $29.30 a $29 fine and $4.50 costs for a fish he caught in Star creek, In Ap plegate district Sunday, without a fishing license. He entered a plea of guilty in Justice court yesterday and paid in full. Wayman W. Bergman, Med ford. charged with fishing with more than one line on a pole was assessed the same amount by Justice W. R. Coleman. He paid $3 down, the balance to be paid by July 1. Harry B. Rubensteln, Med ford, charged with failure to operate a vehicle on the right ide of the road, between Gold '-fill and Rogue River, was fined S and costs.
