JUNE 1. 1941 MYSTERY STORY WRITER FORCED TO CLEAR SELF Errol Flynn, dashing star of "Robin Hood", "The Sea Hawk" and "Santa Fe Trail", now has his first modern screen role in recent years in the exciting comedy-mystery. "Footsteps in the Dark", opening a three day run today at the Craterian theatre. Unusually outstanding is the new March of Time which la to be shown on the same program, presenting "Men of the F-BJ. 1941", and showing how the agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation are busy investi gating espionage and sabotage during these troubled times. In "Footsteps in the Dark", Flynn is a mystery story writer who likes to get his material first hand. He gets it all right, but buffeted about by his wife on one side and his mother-in-law on the other, he finds that the least of his troubles is be ing accused of murdering a beautiful blonde. Lovely Brenda Marshall plays the role of Flynn's wife and, with the aid of her suspicious mother, Lucile Watson, succeeds in making a mountain out of a mystery. The police force have their doubts about things too, which doesn't help matters when Errol tries to clear him self. Included in the outstanding cast are Ralph Bellamy, Lee Patrick, Alan Hale, Allen Jenk ins, Grant Mitchell and Roscoe Karns. Gay Family Comedy 'Keeping Company' Opening at Rialto The trials and tribulations of young newlyweds, and particu larly the danger of their first quarrel, becomes the subject for a gay, romantic family comedy in "Keeping Company", today and tomorrow only at the Rialto Theatre. The cast rivals that of the famous Hardy Family, and according to advance reports, the comedy situations and plot is equally as hilarious as the many "scrapes" the Hardys get themselves into. .. .. - - The opening sequence of "Keeping Company" has the Thomas family (little sister, brother, mother and dad) trying to marry off big sister to the "catch" of the town. They suc ceed and from then on their troubles really start as they play nursemaid, kangaroo court and doctor to the lucky pair. Ann Rutherford and John Shelton, two of the outstanding young players of the screen, and both rated as strong probablli-J ties for future stardom, appear j as the youthful bride and ' groom. Miss Rutherford has heretofore played Andy Hardy's favorite girl-friend In the Hardy series. Teamed are Frank Morgan and Irene Rich, as Mr. and Mrs. Thomas, the mother and father of Ann Rutherford. Thirteen-year-old Virginia Wiedler, who Is considered a star at the movie capital, plays the impish young sister who keeps the newlyweds on a veritable keg of dynamite. The story, in brief, is that of a boy and girl and their mar riage. After much plotting on the part of the girl's father and kid sister, the wedding takes place. Then trouble appears In the person of the boy's ex sweetheart. She persists In hounding him and attention to the fact Is drawn to the wife by the town's gossipers. Her Jeal ousy gets the best of her and she returns to her parent's home but with expert and wholesale plotting on the part of her sly old dad and brat of a sister, they are pulled through their big crisis. Forrestal went abroad to look over the picture as the president's per sonal representative. The Green land base was taken, the British base in Iceland was expanded. Work was begun on additional sea and air bases in northern Scotland. Then in the third stage, the navy itself was made ready to Initiate the new system at the word of command.
