In Hospital J. A. Johnson, Spanish-American war veteran, of Thomas road, is confined in Community hospital with the flu. His condition was reported s much Improved today. Snow Decreasing Depth of snow at Crater Lake is down to 32 inches, ending skiing and winter sports for another year, according to a short wave radio report on weather conditions re ceived here today. The weather Is becoming stabilized, the re port stated.. The maximum tem perature at the lake yesterday was 32. Cars visiting the lake was 60 degrees; the minimum Sunday totaled 352, with 1.296 people. The south entrance was used by 221 cars and 800 peo ple, the west entrance by 131 autos and 496 people. Crass Fire The fire depart ment answered call at 12:09 this afternoon to put out a grass fire in the back yard at the C. R. Alexander residence, 106 Almond street. There was no damage. The fire was evidently started by a burning cigarette. Dies Word was received to day of the death yesterday of August Brunken, telegrapher and ticket agent for the South ern Pacific company at Grants Pass. Mr. Brunken, many years with the company, formerly worked in the Medford office.
