MONDAY, MAY 26, 1941 i 12 Ju "a wr Do ai Wil C sirj EXAMINATION FOR Although It wasn't Bedford's Bob Hinman who passed the severe examination at Sand Point naval station near Seattle tor navy pilot training, with the highest grade in history, it was a Hinman, all right, and at the aame time It was announced that Bob, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry S. Hinman of 336 South Holly street, had passed the test with a "very high" grade. According to an Associated Press report from Seattle, Thomas Hinman of Portland, no relation to Bob, had passed the test February 21 with the high est grade in history. Comdr. Bert H. Creighton, senior mem ber of the naval aviation selec tion board at Sand Point, told the A. P. that Bob Hinman stood "very high" as regards the examination, which he took Wednesday. Bob, a 1935 Medfor high school graduate, has been at tending Willamette university for the past three years and will be graduated June 7. He will report at Sand Station for cadet training July 18. Cadets spend bout six weeks at Sand Point, then are transferred to Pensa cola, Fla. EMPLOYMENT FOR ALL ISJMISED A presagement of work for very body here this summer was contained In announcement today by Lewis Ulrich, manager of the local office of the Ore gon State Employment service, that there were immediate open ings for strawberry pickers (families preferred), farmhands nd farm couples, hay-hands, pray-hands, Jailers and buck ers, domestic help, waitresses nd domestic work In summer resorts. Mr. Ulrich said that there apparently would be plenty ot work from now on, and that there should be no reason for any person to remain unemploy ed. He suggested that all those now unemployed call at the em ployment service office, 45 North Fir street, and asked that those having job openings list them at the office. 22nd Child Born In 25 Year$ to Miner and Wife Unlontown, Pa., May 26 Wr Roy Hostetter, 46-year-old miner, and his wife, 42, today announced birth of their 22nd child, Dolores Mar lene, Friday night. Hostetter said their chil dren were so numerous that his wife. In making a list of them at the hospital, "got some wrong." At his request, the physic Ian who delivered their first child nearly 25 years ago, also delivered "the last," Dolores Sixteen of their children are living. In addition, the Hos tellers are grandparents. Woman Loses Arm In Auto Smashup Tillamook, May 26. The right arm of Mrs. Edgar Davis, Portland, was severed at the elbow when the car In which she was riding with her husband struck a low culvert guard and tipped over nrar Cloverdale. It was believed she had her arm out of the car window at the time of the accident. Marvin G. Sturgeon, both of the U. S army air corps at Moffett Field. Calif., arrived by plane at the Medford Airport Saturday noon for a week-end visit with the Gaddis family. Lieut. Gaddis has recently been assigned as assistant air corps supply officer and ordered to report at the air corps gun nery school at Las Vegas. Lieut. Sturgeon will soon take up more extended activities at the army air corps training school, Bakersficld. Calif.
