Court Citation Slated to ip pear In Justice of the peace court thl afternoon was Roy S. Du senbury, 18, of Medford. charged by state police with driving a car with improper headlights. Back From Trip Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Anthony returned home last evening from a motor trip through several western states. Mr. Anthony ii owner of a barber (hop on West Sixth St. Transfer Miss Evelyn Cum mings of Butte Falls, former stu dent of the Medford Business college, was recently transferred from Washington, D. C. to San Diego, Cal. She is a government stenographer. Visiting Here Mrs. R. H. Carey of Omaha, Neb., is spend ing a two weeks visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. T. Mc Donough. 735 West 14th street. Mrs. Carey arrived here Wed nesday by train. Officer Leaves Lieut. Harold W. Howard of the arson division of the state police, with head Quarters in Portland, left Med . ford for the northern part of the state this morning after spend ing the past two days here on routine business. In Hospital Mrs. Sam Kro schel, well known former Med ford resident now spending the summer here, is confined in Community hospital with an in lured hand. Mrs. Kroschel's home is In San Diego, Cal., now. Friends may call at the hospital to visit her. Chanev Here H. F. Chaney, president of the Medford Cor poration spent the past two days here on an inspection tour. He was the house guest of James Owen at his Siskiyou Heights home during his stay. Mr. Owen is general manager of the cor poration. Building Permits The Gil more Oil company applied at the city building inspector's of fice yesterday for permit to construct a service station at Jackson boulevard and Central avenue at a stated cost of $2,500. Arthur Short of 622 West Sec ond street applied for a permit to build a new private garage at a stated cost of $35. Vacation Soon Earl York, clerk at Medford postoffice, will begin his annual vacation Sep tember 1. He will attend the American Legion state conven tion in Seaside September 5, 6 and 7 as a delegate from Med ford post. He and Mrs. York will be accompanied to Seaside by Mrs. Belva Aiken who will re turn to Medford after the con vention with other friends. At the conclusion ot the convention Mr. and Mrs. York will extend their vacation to Washington. Fire Set State forest patrol headquarters stated today that the three grass and brush fires on Roxy Ann mountain yester day afternoon were set. The three fires merged into one that covered 60 to 70 acres before it was controlled. The fires started on both sides of the roadway Just above the unoccupied Pres eott CCC camp and burned away from the camp buildings. It was the second fire of the season in this district attributed to incen diarism. Plane Passengers Dr. Harvey A. Woods of Ashland left by United Malnliner this noon for Portland. J. A. Pomeroy arrived from Seattle this forenoon and Mrs. W. S. Thurlow left on the same plana for San Francisco. H. Oden left for Portland last night. W. Brown left for San Francisco last evening. J. Mc- Mullin arrived from Los An geles yesterday afternoon and leaving on the same plane for Portland were A. Nordstrom. H. F. Chaney, Mrs. H. Bush, Mrs. R. Inman, Miss E. Rule and F. Cresmer. Steelheads weighing up to five pounds have been caught In recent days, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson informed the Mail Tribune. Myron Sprague of Palo Alto, Cal., landed a six pounder yesterday, they related, adding that Mr. Sprague Is an annual vacationist on the Rogue river. Judge William R. Coleman, at the recommenda tion of District Attorney Frank J. Newman, meted out 60-day suspended sentences upon three youths who pleaded guilty to petty larceny, they admitting participation In the same melon escapade. Mr. Hug did not ap pear In court. The three youths were Clinton Hartwell, 19. William Davis, 19, and his brother, Robert Davis, 18, all of Rogue River. Their fathers appeared with them In court. Hart, according to police, drove a 19.19 Mercury sedan away from the Gates used car lot here on a purported trial spin, and failed to return the machine.
