L Drager of 33 Quince street left by motorcar yesterday on a two weeks' vacation trip to Spo kane, Wash. Watch Stolen Tom Burdett of Rogue River reported to city police yesterday that a 17-Jewel wrist-watch was stolen from the door pocket of his automobile parked in Phoenix Monday. To Rethingle A. E. Orr of Crown Heights applied at the city building inspector's office yesterday fcr a permit to re shingle his residence at a stated cost of S330. Mrs. E. D. Berry of 118 North Peach street ap plied for a permit to make house repairs at a stated cost of $50. Plane Passengers N. Hogan arrived by United Mainliner this noon from San Francisco, and departing on the same plane were William Mishler, to Walla Walla, Wash., and Miss Harriet Hart, to Portland. Arrivals on the forenoon Mainliner were A. E. Anderson, from Seattle, and K. Willard, from Portland. Mr. Willard is an auditor for United Air Lines. Mrs. E. H. Buhn left on the forenoon plane for San Francisco. Arrivals early this morning were Miss C. R. Ryan, from Los Angeles, and George Nordian, from Sacramento. C. McCuloch left on the same plane for Portland. Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Pierce returned from San Francisco by Mainliner last night. Arrivals last evening were Mrs. E. Kill green and A. J. Schidem.mtle, from Portland, and Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Rothen berg, from Seattle. Departing were A. Diamond and H. C. Willmot, to San Francisco, and H. Herr, to Oakland. F. Sturges, residents of Gold Hill, were business callers in Medford today. I In San Diego George E. Pat- terson, in charge of the U. S. navy recruiting station at the federal building, is spending a week's leave of absence in San Diego, Cal. During his absence the office is in charge of his assistant, E. A. Roescl. Back from Camp Mr. and Mrs. Frank Howell, their daugh ter, Mrs. La Verne Myers, and her children. Beverly and Joyce, of 320 North Ivy street, return ed last evening from Portland where they attended the annual camp of the Apostolic Faith church. Driver Tests Applicants for licenses or permits to operate motor vehicles will be examined here on Thursday as well as Saturday this week. A state examiner will be in council chambers on the top floor of city hall from 9 a. m. to 5 p. m. Thursday and as many appli cants as possible are asked to report to him. The extra ser vice is Intended to relieve con gestion Saturday. Boy Removed Donald Hol land, 12-year-old son of Mrs. Dollie Holland of Central Point was to be moved today from the Community hospital to his home. Donald has been confined in the hospital for a week with a broken les as the result of an accident in a barn in Central Point, when he jumped from one haystack to another. Don ald will be confined to his home for some time while his leg is in a cast. Fruit Exhibits Working in cooperation, the Jackson Coun ty Chamber of Commerce and the county agent's office are continuing their policy of send ing fruit in season to the Golden Gate international exposition for inclusion in the Oregon state agricultural exhibit. This week peaches are to be sent to the expoition. Last week Bartlett pears were shipped. Earlier in the season cherries were sent from this county. Divine, pastor of the Presby terian church, returned this morning by train from Seattle. Wash., where he officiated at two services Sunday in the large Presbyterian church. He re ported that congregations at both services were much larger than when he was speaker in the same church four months ago. Dr. Divine said that an of iicial church meeting has been called for August 29 to extend a call to Dr. Peter Marshall of the New York Avenue Presby terian church, Washington. D. C, to succeed the late Dr. Mark A. Matthews as permanent pas tor of the Seattle church. ... At Airport Military arrivals at Medford municipal airport today included Lieut. B. R. Eckstein, en route from Boeing field, Seattle. Wash., to Moffett field. Sunnyvale, Cal., in a North American basic trainer. Six lieutenants arrived late yes terday, each piloting a Curtiss pursuit plane from Moffett field to Medford and return. The pilots were Lieuts. A. P. Tacon, R. M. Loe, J. S. Jenkins. H. B. Young, T. Dam age was confined to the motor. The motor was in the base ment engine room of the plant, a cold storage unit situated on South Front street at 11th street. The smoke was cleared out of the basement by a large port able suction fan. The fire de partment received the alarm at 11:30.
