Their trip home took them by way of Corvallls and Marsh field, then back from the coast to Roseburg and home to Ash land. The trip was made by motor in a new 1940 Bulck sedan loaned to the festival represen tatives by the Skinner Motor; company or Mcdford. Mistletoe Camp Hat Thurdsay Meeting Twenty-three members were present at the meeting of Mistle toe came August 1. A water melon feed was served by the first four officers: Oracle, Edith Beck; vice-oracle, Susanna Brawn; past oracle, Frances Mc Conche; chaplain, Grace Wake field. The next meeting will be a Joint one with the Mistletoe club at the home of Edith Tww on the Old Stage road, with a covered ami supper served at o.au, August 8. Christian Endeavor Enjoys Picnic Friday The Christian Endeavor of the Central Avenue Church of Christ held a swimming and watermelon party Friday night t McKee bridge. Med ford Boy To Sail For Islands On Extended Visit Leaving Tuesday by plane for San Francisco is Cecil Hunt, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil G. Hunt of this city. From the Bay city he will sail on the Matsonian Thursday for the Hawaiian islands, and Honolulu. Later he will go to Kahului. Maui. In Honolulu and Ka hului he will .visit fraternity brothers. He plans to return the lattet part of September and go to Eugene where he will resume his studies at the University of Oregon. He is affiliated Sigma Alpha Epsilon fratern ity at the university. Farewell Partv Honors Employees A hail and farewell mrtv u.. held last Saturday evening at me Knights of Pythias hall on North Grape street for the em ployes of Western Electric and the telephone company. About 120 employes and their guests attended. Each guest received a small blue and white' bell with their name on it, to wear on their lapel as they entered the door. A buffet supper was served at midnight In the dining room, decorated with alternate blue and white bells hung from the celling. The stage was banked with greens and gladioli. Committees for the affair were composed of Bill Alfrev and Frank Woodward from the plant, Martin Turnbow from Western Electric, Bob Bartln and Myrtle Newland from traf fic and long distance and Mary Swayne from traffic at local. Olive Rebekah Lodge io Meet Monday Eve The Olive Rebekah lodge will 'leet Mondav vninc ft o'clock. Gertrude Moffat, newly-elected noble grand, will pre side. This will be the first busi ness meeting for this term. Plans will be made for picnic for Odd Fellows and Rnh.k.k. and for the harvest festival to oe held this fall. H. Porter of this city and Mrs. Porter was a Drury girl be fore her marriage. This summer the Porters traveled back east where they visited In New York. En route to the Pacific coast the couple visited friends and relatives In Birmingham, Mich., and Mr. Porter's brother, E. H. Porter, Jr.. In Columbus. Ohio. This past week the couple spent visiting at the Allen B. Drury home. They plan to sail from Vancouver for Kn- dlak on August 9. Mr. Porjer teaches school there. C. H. F. Club Meets Wednesday The C. I Dial 3534 Harding-Sanders Rites Performed In Reno Ceremony Coming as a complete sur prise to their large circle of friends was the marriage re cently In Reno, Nev., of Mrs. Laura Harding of Rogue River to Joe Sanderi of Gold Hill. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Schmidt in the Nevada city. The couple was accompanied to Reno by Miss Bunnie Cleff of Tacoma, Wash., and Norman A. Campbell of Gold Hill. They were attendants for Mr. and Mrs. Sanders. The press charged Free masonry with offenses ranging from sapping the morale nf France to undermining Mar shal Petain's efforts to re-establish the "work, family and fatherland" idea among the people. The newspaper Le Nouvelllste of Lvon declared "Our fnraicn enemies never would have been able to succeed against us if France had not been literally assassinated by the venom of secret lodges.". The newspaper asserted that Freemasonry systematically de prived the French of their ideals, adding: "France without ideals has become a defeated France." Fleet's Inl Honolulu. Aug. 3. Knotts With Party Thursday Approximately one hundred membera of the First Methodist church gathered in the church parlors Thursday evening to welcome their pastor. Rev. Jos eph Knotts. and new member! of the congregation. C. A. Meeker, In his address of welcome -spoke of the splen did work done by Rev. Knotts during his seven years as pas tor, and the improved condl- tions in all departments of the church work. Rev. Knntts ex pressed his appreciation for the fine cooperation of officers and members, and outlined the plans of work for the united churches. A fine musical program was enjoyed, consisting of groups of solos by Mrs. Helen High Pierce and Miss Mary Ann Gates, and a duet by Miss Avonne Rae and Marion Felter. Miss Vir ginia Preston gave two humor ous readings in dialect. The parlors were attractive with many baskets and bou quets of beautiful gladioli from the gardens of Mrs. Olin Arnt piger. Refreshments were served at the close of the evening. ROGUE POSTMISTRESS' HOME FROM CONCLAVE Rogue River, Aug. 3. (Spl.) Postmaster Gladys M. Heath of Rogue River recently returned from Sherwood, Ore., where she addressed a meeting of post masters in behalf of the Na tional Association of Postmas ters. Postmaster Heath Is national director representing the third and fourth class postmasters of Oregon, and is also president of the Jackson and Josephine bi county organization. No Coniferous Seed.
