Upper Apple gate Grange gave dinner July 20 for the bankers from Klanv ath Falls, Medford and Grants Pass. Grange also gave a dance the same night and the bankers stayed and enjoyed themselves. Bert Harr gave an interesting report on Pomona. Omar Culy and Floyd McKee from Upper Applegate won sec ond prize in horse shoe pitch ing at Eagle Point Grange pic nic. Report was given by the fire agent, Ed Finley, on prevention of fires in dry weather. We have organized a horse- shoe committee including Era McKee, Omar Culy and Floyd McKee. Roxy Anne Grange will visit Upper Applegate Grange Aug. 10. 4-H Club Jackson county pic nic will be held at McKee camp ground August 8. Bring your own picnic lunch for the family. Ice cream will be served afterwards. Lecture hour program includ ed community singing, readings and reports on Pomona Grange meeting. Sams Valley Grange Grange met in regular session with Master Jerome Fitzgerald presiding. Visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hockersmlth and son. Plans were made for the fair booth at Gold Hill and ad ditional committees appointed. H.E.C. announced that fire pre vention requirements have been met around the hall. Sams Valley team won the horseshoe pitching contest at the recent Pomona picnic and presented the Grange with the first prize. Lecturer R. E. Nealon called on several for impromptu num bers. James McDonough gave an interesting talk on air con ditioning. A quiz contest fur nished amusement, the prize be ing won by Mcsdames Abbott and Straus. Member of the Northwest Jack son County Fair board met at the city hall, July 26. It was announced that F. A. Pinkerton will have charge this year of barbecuing the beef which will be procured through the Gail Market here. The public ad dress system belonging to the school will be used to furnish music for the parade and the queen's float decorations will be in charge of Mrs. Willie Mc Lean and Mrs. June Mapel. Land products and Grange booths will be handled in tenU adjacent to the dance pavilion this year, these departments having been formerly housed In the Deuel building now oc cupied by the Oregon Ore Re duction, Inc. Another Import ant meeting will be held on August 0, when many matters of importance to the success of the fair will be discussed.
