MEET WITH UNION Member of the master paint er association and local union met last evening in the labor hall for the purpose of creating an amiable relationship among members and contacts locally. It was one of the largest and most successful meetings of its kind ever held here, members said today. Approximately S3 were present. By unanimous ap proval it was decided to hold the combination social and business sessions every two weeks. Fred Lawrence presided as chairman. Play la Band Dr. L. L. San ders, Tom Harvey and Fred Strang traveled to Ashland last evening to play in a park con cert with the Ashland city band. Good rich. The Bollchs were accom panied here by Dr. Goodrich's two sisters, the Misses Lucille and Marguerite Goodrich. The wedding of Miss La Verne Stephenson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Stephenson, to Dr. Goodrich will be an event of Sunday, July 21 at high noon In St. Mark's Episcopal church. The guests from Indiana are staying here at No. S Lorlng court where the young Medford couple will reside after their marriage. The popular and well known bride-elect was feted last eve ning at a small dinner party at the Hotel Holland when three friends presented her with wed ding gifts. They were the Misses Elaine Brophy, Peggy Reter and Lois Herman. Picnic Event is Set For Sunday Past Noble Grands club will meet for a picnic at Ashland park Sunday at 12:30 o'clock. This annual event is for all members and their families Each one Is asked to bring a well filled basket and own service. Coffee, cream and sugar will be furnished by the committee. Those in charge of refresh ments are: Mrs. Carrie McDan nel, Mrs. Grace Hamlin, Mrs. Rosie Young and Mrs. Nettle Grover. The entertainment com mittee will be Mrs. Maude Stickle, Mrs. Sarah Redden, Mrs. Nina Oatman and Mrs. Karen 3ateman. Medford Women Attend G. P. Party Mrs. Eugene Childers of Med ford, sister of Mrs. Fred Roper of Grants Pass, was compli mented at a no-host birthday luncheon Wednesday at the Cave Shoppe In Grants Pass Covers were laid for twelve guests: Mrs. P. B. Blgelow, Mrs. T. J. Fry, Mrs. C. R. Fry, Mrs Eugene Childers, all of Medford; Mrs. Ann Bragg and Mrs. Shir ley of Los Angeles, and Mrs. C. B. Putman, Mrs. D. A. Hutchi son, Mrs. Roper, Miss Marion Campbell and Miss Janet Ross, all of Grants Pass. At the close of the luncheon Mrs. Childers cut a lovely birth day cake and opened numerous gifts. Garnettt to Visit in City H. C. (Shorty) Garnett and family are expected to arrive in Medford tomorrow to spend a brief time before continuing on to Portland and Seattle for a visit. The Garnetts formerly resided In this city and are well known here. Mr. Garnett owned a hard ware store a number of years ago. The family now live in Alhambra, Cal., and have been attending the Golden Gate In ternational Exposition on Treas ure Island. After their stay in the north, Mr. Garnett will pro ceed on to Alaska for a sojourn while his family remains in Port land. Mrs. Miller to ' Locate In South Mrs. Josephine Miller and daughter plan to leave soon for San Francisco. Cal., where they will make their home. They have been residing on the Jack sonville highway here. Wesley League Will Have Party Wesley League of the Metho dist church will entertain with a party for all members this eve ning at 8 o'clock in the church gymnasium. Games and refresh ments will be enjoyed. Two Travel to Klamath Falls Mrs. H. Chandler Elan, sales committee head of the Oregon Shakespearean Festival esjocta I C(-c press Falls today to attend to Shakes pearean affairs for the day. Mr. Prentice to Leave Soon for Chicago Meeting Mrs. Harry Prentice plans to leave next week for Chicago, III., to attend a meeting for the purpose of establishing a nation al accordion teachers associa tion. While In the eastern me tropolis, Mrs. Prentice will tit tend an accordion school for teachers, conducted by Anthony Galla Rint of New York, inter nationally famous accordionist and instructor. The local woman also plans to attend the trades show. In Chicago. The local accordion band which had it's inception two and a half years ago, now has a membership of over 130 including members from Grunts Pass. Ashland, Talent, Gold Hill, Central Point and other Rogue River valley places. Mrs. Prentice was recently In vited to enter the band in the Golden Gate Exposition contest Owing to her departure soon for Chicago, entry was not possible. During her absence from the city for three weeks, Miss Ber tena Elmore will be in charge of Instruction and band both in Grants Pass and Medford. Alameda. Calif.. July 12. Miss Buck Is Visitor Hare Miss Wana Buck arrived In Medford the first of the week from her home in Minot. N. D.. to visit her brother, Seth Putnam and wife and mother. This marks Miss Buck's first visit to southern Oregon and she is much impressed with the beauty of it. She is a teacher in Minot schools. Mrs. Walkay Is Visitor Hare Mrs. Kenneth Walkey was a recent brief visitor here and the house guest of Col, F. L. Tou- velle at his home in Jackson ville. Mrs. Walkey is a niece f George Putnam, Salem news paper publisher. She will be remembered here as the former Miss Bruce Putnam. Her home is in Santa Monica, Cal.
