Cox arrived Friday to take com mand of Medford Salvation Army corps, succeeding Captain and Mrs. R. H. Vincent who were transferred a few days ago to Portland. Captain and Mrs. Cox, who have been in charge of Citadel corns of San Francisco for the past two years, spent 'our years in Pueblo, Colo., where he was! active In civic betterment and chamber of commerce work, and as a member of the Lions club. During their Pueblo stay the Salvation Army erected a new building. Prior to their tour of duty in Pueblo the couple were in Cheyenne, Wyo., for four years, where Captain Cox was secretary of the ministerial as sociation and wag a member of the Kiwanis club and Mrs. Cox was active In church groups. The new corps leaders are much pleased with their assign ment here, commenting espec ially - on the beauty of the scenery and the cordiality of the people. This is their first visit to Oregon. Evangelist Dodd At Full Gospel Revival services being con ducted by Evangelist Ferris A. Dodd at the Full' Gospel Church, Newtown street, near West Main, are attracting wide interest. Pas tor Leonard Weston reports that, besides an encouraging response from local people a large num ber of friends from outlying communities have been present. "Mr. Dodd came to Medford directly from a great revival roundup at Pendleton, where his singing and pulpit ministry won hundreds of friends," Rev. Wes ton said. He will sing and preach twice Sunday and every night through the week except Satur day. The public Is invited to all these services. Lutherans to Hold Annual Picnic Today St. Peter'i Lutheran church annual Sunday school picnic will be held in Llthia Park at Ash land today following a special parent-children day service in the church at 11 o'clock. All children and their parents are invited to attend the service and picnic. If possible, lunch will be served in the upper part of the park, above the auto camp, Transportation will be fur nished all children In Sunday achool this morning and efforts will also be made to furnish transportation for adults not having their own cars. O.E.S. of Central Point had a very en joyable meeting last Tuesday evening at the Masonic Temple. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Head were the honor guests. Their wedding was a recent event at Coburg, Oregon. Mrs. Head (Norma Zin ser) was a music instructor in the Central Point high school several years ago and Is well known in the community . At the close of the regular Chapter meeting the Associate Matron and the Associate Pa tron, Margaret and Merritt Swing, escorted the honor cou ple into the chapter room and introduced them. Mrs. Pearl Bonney presented a bridal flower quiz and then introduced Mrs. Edwin Andren. who sang "1 Love You Truly" and "Because". Her lovely songs were particularly appreciated as she was a former pupil of Mrs. Head. Mrs. Sam Kohler played the accompaniments. Following, Mr. and Mrs. Head were es corted by the Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron to the vari out Star Point Stations, where each presented a flower to make up the bride'i bouquet. The Worthy Matron then presented ; them with gift from the chap ter. Refreshments were served from a beautifully appointed bride's table later. Crystal candelabra with white tapers were used on either side of a lovely arrangement of pink sweet peat and baby breath. Large baskets of white flowers were used about the dining room. Committees responsible for the evening included: bride'i table, Mrs. Guy Tex; program, Mrs. Pearl Bonney; refresh ments, Mrs. J. C. Cook, Mrs. f Sam Koehler. Mrs. E. C. During the regular meeting reports of the recent Grand Chapter Session held at Port land, were given by Mrs. Merritt Swing, Mrs. Hensley Holt and Mrs. Everett Faber. At the con clusion of Mrs. Faber'g report, Mrs. Swing presented her1 with a lovely bouquet of garden flow ers from the officers with a wish for very pleasant year for her as a member of the Traveling Flags committee of the Grand Chapter of Oregon. A picnic was announced for Sunday July 7 for Nevita Chap ter and Central Point lodge members and their families. Rebekah Lodge Will Convene Olive Rebekah Lodge No. 28 will meet Monday evening, In the I.O.O.F. hall on West 8th street for its regular business session with Nellie Gibson, Noble Grand, presiding. At this time the newly elected District Deputy President, Viola Aldredge, will hear the new Noble Grand elect, Gertrude Moffitt and the Vice-Grand elect, Mary Cave, give their work. The date of joint installation of Rebekah lodge and the I. O. O. F. Lodge No. 83.. Medford, will be announced at a later date. HEAR and Clubs John Reisacher Composing Music For Festival Plays When southern Oregon's an nual Shakespearean productions open in Ashland this August, drama lovers will have an op portunity to witness the results of a modern touch on one of the old scripts. "Much Ado About Nothing", one of the better known of Shakespeare's works has been adapted into a modern tempo, skillfully blending the original quality of the master touch with the modern Interpre tations. Instrumental in the so-called streamlining of this production is John Reisacher of Medford, who is handling musical scores and is composing original music for the play. At least three new selections will be featured. Ly rics are being handled by Doro thy Pruitt, assistant director ard William David Cottrell, director A veteran Shakespearean player, Reisacher joined the group in 1S37 and has won wide acclaim for his able characteriz ations. He portrayed Gremio in "The Taming of the Shrew" In 1937, 1938 and 1939 and was one of the players who Jour neyed to the Treasure Island ap pearance of the Shakespearean troup. He was also seen as Paris in "Romeo and Juliet". In 1938 and 1939 he played Reynaldo in "Hamlet" and also Salino in 'The Merchant of Ven ice" two years ago. This year he is repeating his 1939 character ization as Sir Oliver Martex in "As You Like It" and la appear ing in other current productions Reisacher has also been seen in a number of community dra mas including the recent local stage production of "You Can't Take It With You". Miss Gardner Has Birthday Party Miss Venita Gardner celebra ted her seventh birthday with a party last week. The table was decorated with streamers of green and pink crepe paper and Venita received many lovely gifts. After refreshments were served games were played. Mrs. Launspach Hosts to Guests Mrs. James Adamson of Mc Minnville is visiting this week with her mother, Mrs. George Launspach, at her home on South Oakdale avenue. Mrs. Adamson, with her husband and three children, is spending the summer in Eugene, where Mr. Adamson is attending Univer sity of Oregon, summer school. Other recent visitors at the Launspach home were Mr. and Mrs. M. Robblns and son Her bert of Klamath Falls. Mrs. Launspach 'is Mrs. Robbing' mother. They also visited Mr. Rob bins' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Young, during their stay. Herbert remained here for an additional stay with relatives. Is John Reisacher, of Medford. He is a veteran Shakespearean player and is embarking upon his fourth year with the group. Musical Society Reviews Years' Accomplishments Last week the Musical society of Medford brought to a close its finest and most enthusiastic season of musical events. This past year, under the able guid ance of Mrs. Charles Lemery as president, a great many new members were enlisted and some of the finest and most enjoy able program to be presented in southern Oregon were spon sored. Among the musical programs presented by the club was the concert- by the world-famous harpist. Ruth Lorraine Cloio. Miss Close presented well rounded program of classical music. Another outstanding pro gram was presented at the Pres byterian church on December 10, in which Hang Horlein, Mar cla Fry, Mrs. Frank Gray, Har old Burleson, Atleen Crawford Maddox and chorus under the direction of Tether Church Leake participated. The selec tions were religious in charac ter and in keeping with the season. The closing concert of the year was presented at the Med ford high school auditorium and was arranged by F. Cyril San der. This was the climaxing event of the season and attract ed much favorable comment from an enthusiastic audience. Selections were presented by a 30-piece ensemble composed of young boys and girls and adults from over the valley and con ducted by John R. Knight; a trio composed of Margaret Hu son, Catherine Wcndt and Jean McAllister; saxophonist Hugh Scovell, accompanied by Grace Loeffler; the well-known high school boys' octette; Rose Ellen Uhrine, talented local vocalist, accompanied by Kenneth Ray mond; John Reisacher, brilliant local pianist; Mrg. The accident occurred yesterday, but Burns was not missed until today. The body was recovered from a dirt pile.
