Bestel of Medford drove cars Involved in a minor mishap at Main and Fir streets Monday evening, a report on file said today. Roy A. Dorf of Eagle Point and Wallace D. Lowery of route 4 operated cars in volved in a minor collision six miles from Butte Falls Monday morning, according to a report on file today. Car Fire Attributed to a short circuit, fire damaged the wiring of a car owned by How ard Wilson of Central Point this noon. Mr. Wilson was driv ing along when he discovered the blaze under the hood of the car at Riverside avenue and Main street. The fire depart ment'! chemical crew was call ed but before the firemen ar rived the blaze had been put out with chemical! procured at the nearby Hubbard Brothers hardware store. He arrived yesterday afternoon from Portland. He was flying a Porterfield de luxe trainer. Gets Scholarship G e o r g e Codding. Jr.,- son of Attorney and Mrs. George Codding. Sr., of 1013 Queen Anne avenue, received word yesterday that he had been awarded a scholar ship at Willamette university in Salem. The well-known Medford youth graduated in the Medford high school class of 1940. He is 17 years old. The award is in the amount of $150, to be used for tuition at the university. Joseph Knotts, pastor of the First Methodist church, returned yesterday from Port land where he attended the an nual conference of his church. For the eighth time in succes sion, Rev. Knotts was appoint ed pastor of the Medfcrd church. Rev. Knotts was honored with assignments on committees on ministerial training and accept ed supply pastors, was made chairman of the committee of investigation, was elected a trustee of the conference, as signed to the board of missions and church extension, and was made chairman of the commis sion of world service and fi nance.
