New Serial June 25
A swiftly-paced mystery romance, "Casual
Slaughters," written by Virginia Hanson, will be
the next serial story appearing in The Mail Trib
une. The author is a daughter of a retired colonel,
and her brother is also a retired army officer and
as might be expected her story deals with the army.
The new serial will start June 25.

Big Applegate, June 19
(Spl.) By June 25th every
member of the summer fire per
sonnel of the Applegate district
will be at his mountain post,
it was announced from the Star
Ranger station. Dutchman's
Peak lookout will continue to
send daily meteorological re
ports to the local ranger station,
where reports from other dis
trict rangers of the Rogue River
national forest are assembled
and telephoned in code to the
United Start's weather bureau
In Portland each day. New
phases in compiling the reports
are requested this year, It was
said.

Mt. Ashland, ordinarily an
emergency lookout, will not be
manned at the present. A num
ber of the men are employed
in trail maintenance before go
ing on fire duty.

Although married, Nallia Brooke Stull, president and founder of the Widow's and Widower's
Club, has received 32,000 proposals since her organisation was founded in 1322 one from a man
who said he had fallen in love with her left eye. The club is not a matrimonial bureau. In the
words of Mrs. Stull. "..the purpose is to relieve loneliness by establishing congenial friendships"
Mrs. Stull goes oni "I noticed at every social affair middle-aged women who never joined in
having a good time. That began the idea. I announced I was going to form a club. Soon I was
