Germaine of Portland, connected with the National Automobile Theft Bur eau, was a visitor in Medford yesterday, contacting local po lice officers. Visits Here Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Irwin is a visitor at the A. Orin Schenck home, 626 South Holly street. She came up from Willows, Cal., several days ago. Norris Here Mr. and Mrs. Ralph H. Norris, former prom inent Medford residents, are spending several days here vis iting. They are registered at the Hotel Medford. Hunter Here S. P. Hunter of Phoenix was a caller in Med ford yesterday when he visited with old friends and attended to business. Mr. Hunter has re sided in the Phoenix district for 33 years. From Portland Edgar Stev ens of Portland, Oregon state manager of the Loyalty group of insurance companies, is spending a couple of days here on business. He is registered at the Hotel Medford. Returns Horns Mrs. Edith Garrett returned home yester day from a two weeks' trip to South Dakota where she visited her father and other relatives and friends. She planned to open her Karmelkorn shop to day, Medford Caller Kress Mad- dox, field representative of the Loyaty group of insurance com panies. Is spending several days here on business. Mrs. Maddox accompanied her husband. The two are registered at the Hotel Medford. Have Party Students of the Medford School of Beauty Cul ture enjoyed a swimming party Wednesday evening at Jackson Hot Springs. A wienie roast was held after swimming after which the group danced at a night spot. Has Operation A. D. Lewis, Jr., of 1610 East Main street, is reported by Community hos pital attendants to be recover ing satisfactorily from a 'major operation he underwent on Tuesday. He Is not allowed to have visitors yet. Postponed Because of the sudden death of Mrs. Mabel Heimroth of 328 North River side avenue, the housewarmlng at the T. K. Flynn home on East Main street at Lindley street was postponed today. The housewarming had been plan ned for tonight. Bourn Leaves Jerry Bourn left Tuesday for the north where he will transact business regarding a gold mine of which he is one of the owners. The mine is located on the Canadian line north of Bellingham, Wn. Mr. Bourn resides at 135 Tripp street. He was recently wed to the former Miss Betty O'Brien, who will remain here. Food Stolen Mr. and Mrs. Robert Colvig came into Med ford today from their cabin home on Evans creek to pur chase food supplies. While the couple were away from their home several days ago, prow ler entered by jimmying a win dow and took a considerable amount of food, the couple re ported. Visiting the Colvigs is Bob Prescott of Eugene. Back From North Mrs. G. H. Corum and son Bernard re turned home Saturday from Portland where they visited rel atives and last Friday attended funeral services for the Rev. Father John W. Powers. Father Powers, an old friend of the; Corum family, was pastor of the . Church of the Nativity here from 1914 to 1923. He died in j a Roseburg hospital May 13. At Airport S. C. Barnes stopped at Medford municipal airport for fuel this morning. He was en route from Seattle, Wash., to Oakland, Cal., in a Stinson plane. Arrivals late yes terday included George P. Fuller who arrived from San Francisco In his Lockheed Elec- tra plane and left immediately by car with his party for We-Ask-U inn for a few days of Rogue river fishing: Harry K. Coffey, Portland insurance agent who arrived from North Bend in his Beechcraft to trans act business here, and Capt. James Clark, reserve officer at Oakland, Cal., Salem to Oak land in a North American basic combat plane. Coffey was tqre turn to Portland this afternoon. Fuller's plane was piloted by Harvey Lempke. Plane Passengers Arrivals by United Mainliner early this afternoon were F. O. Minar of Bend, from Los Angeles, and Mrs. L. D. West, from San Fran cisco. R. R. Mclntyre left on the same plane for Portland. Arrivals from Portland this forenoon were F. J. Burnham, M. W. Anderson and H. Tern pleton and leaving on the same plane were C. M. Wahl, chief dispatcher for United at Oak land, Cal., to Oakland, and Dr. Victory H. Morris and Mrs. P. H. Walbridge of Eugene, to Sac ramento. Miss Evelyn Russell arrived early this morning from San Francisco and leaving on jthe same plane were T. V. Wil liams and W. C. Bell, for Port Hand. C. M. Wahl arrived on the midnight Mainliner from Portland. E. Johnston left on the afternoon flagstop Main liner yesterday for Portland. W. C. The commencement address will be given by Dr. Bruce Bax ter, president of Willamette uni versity. The Rev. Werner Jessen will give the invocation and benediction. Diplomas will be awarded by Dr. R. E. Green and awards will be given out by Mr. Mayfield. The program, which will start at 8 o'clock, also in cludes several musical selec tions by high school students. Graduating with the highest honors attainable will be Lloyd Colbaugh, valedictorian, and Gretchen McAllister, salutator ian. Lloyd is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Colbaugh of 609 Da kota avenue. (JP) Police testified In criminal court to day that they had found an open parachute of an usual type, a radio transmitter and documents of military charac ter concerning Irish defense In a raid on the home of Stephen Held a naturalized Irishman. They also said they found $20,000 in American money, a military cap and a modern Ger man airforce badge in the house. Held was remanded to Jail under defense regulations. P Water rushing through a 500- foot canal break menaced the Irrigation supply 12 miles south west of Nyssa today. R. J. Newell of Boise, recla mation engineer, said a cave-in at north canal had created the most serious leakage in Owyhee project's five-year history. Men i and equipment transported to : the break will not have repairs completed for two weeks. The canal serves about 600 farms in the north end of the project. .
