(U.R) The In vention of a mathematics pro fessor has brought to Ohio State university what Is said to be the finest collection of meteor ites in any college in the coun try. The meteorites were unearth ed in Texas and Arizona last summer by Prof, Lincoln LaPaz with the aid of an electrical device which he had built. Th Instrument is believed to be th first ever used to record th presence of magnetic and met eoric material beneath the sur face of the ground. To the geologist the few met- eorltles which finally reach th earth after their flaming flight through space are valuable. One weighing a pound would be considered a prize. But with the aid of Prof. LaPaz's instru ment the university haa in creased its collection many times over and It now contains a meteorite weighing forty pounds. The professor first became in terested In meteorites while tracing their paths mathemati cally. From this he turned to their actual collection and th invention of a device which at last puts the search for meteor ites on a scientific basis.
