Festivities preceding Christmas were heralded with downright heart aches for pupils of the Ruch school Wednesday, when tour new esses of mumps brought cancellation of the Christmas program, scheduled for Friday. Griffin Creek Griffin Creek, Dec. 26. (Spl.) The community was shocked and deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our beloved neighbor Charlie Howell. All extend sincere sympathy to his bereaved widow and our neigh bor, Maggie Howell. James Arnold is home to spent the holidays with his family. Mr. and Mrs. Melvln Arnold and children have been visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Arnold. Messrs James Hansen and Jo seph Sawtelle of Klamath Falls have been visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Riley D. Han sen. The two small sons of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Muir are recov ering from the flu and pneu monia. Word has been received that Mr. and Mrs. Fay Unrue of Phoenix are tha parents of a baby daughter, Charlotte Faye. Mrs. Unrue was Miss Cella Steams, who has many friends here. Mr. and Mrs. David Hood en. tertained a number of children at their home on Sunset drive Saturday with a Christmas party. Recent visitors at the home ot Mr, and Mrs. Riley D. Hansen were Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Ward of Klamath Falls. School closed Thursday eve ning for the holidays with a program and treats for the chil dren of the community. A large crowd , usual, enjoyed the program the teachers and pupils prnaented. Mr. and Mrs. Aran Hall hrive moved back to Griffin Creek and are now living on the Fchl place on Dark Hollow. Griffin Creek Extension Unit enjoyed their Christmas party at the home of Mrs. Henry Muir on Wednesday. She was assisted by Mrs. Lucille Miller. A demonstration on care of the hair was given by Sarah Tolle and Ruth Hood. At noon a cov ered dish luncheon and visiting was enjoyed. Following the bus iness meeting, singing of Christ mas carols and a Christmas tree exchange was enjoyed by all present. Visitors were Mrs. Hen ry llukill and Mrs. Miller's sis ter from Central Point. R. R. Chllds underwent an operation Monday morning at the community hospital. The Grange Grange Council Jackson County Grange coun cil will meet at Talent, January 10.
