Official Here Loren C. Coch ran, federal probation officer, transacted business here last night and this morning. He ar rived yesterday afternoon from Roseburg and left today for Klamath Falls. " Condition Critical The con dition of Delroy Getchell, wide ly known Medford resident and president of the Farmeis and Fruitgrowers bank, was reported critical today by one of the at tending physicians. The doctor said Mr. Getchell had passed an unfavorable night. Mr. uetchell is suffering from pneumonia. Register Stolen Carl B. Brown of Portland, salesman for the Allen Adding Machine and Cash Register company, reported to city police yesterday that a cash register valued at $125 was stolen from his car sometime during the day. He explained to police that he had made three stops while calling on clients, and that he first missed the cash register at the end of the day. Small Fire Slight damage was done by fire in the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Glen V. Allen late yesterday afternoon. The pipe leading from a livins room heater became too hot and ig nited woodwork around the chimney, firemen reported. The firemen had to use axes in order to get at the bottom of the fire The fire department's chemical crew answered the alarm at 3:25 p. m. On Leave George F. Patter son, In charge of the navy re cruiting station here, left by motorcar this morning for Port land on a ten-dny leave of ab sence. After a brief stay in Port land, Mr. Patterson planned to go to Eugene to spend the re mainder of his leave. During his absence the office here will be in charge of his assistant, E. A. Roesel. Mr. Roesel spent yester day transacting official business in Klamath Falls. Janouch Returns Karl L. Janouch, supervisor of the Rogue River national forest re turned last night after attending a series of conferences irr the north. Last week he attended a i conference of northwest region supervisors at Stevenson on the Columbia national forest in Washington. This week he at tended conferences at the re gional forester's office in Port land. Postal Men Meet Local 342 of the National Federation of Postoffice Clerks held a dinner meeting in the Hotel Jackson Wednesday night. Out of-town guests present were William I, Horner of Washington, D. C, national legislative representa tive, C. I. Blakeslee of Portland, secretary of the state organiza tion, and J, H. Metcham of Spo kane. Wash., first vice-president of the national organization. Al so attending as guests were Post master Frank DeSouza and Rol and G. Beach, assistant postmas ter. He ex pected to return to his office this afternoon. 9 Flying ..North Lee Eyerly, commercial flier in Salem, stopped at Medford municipal airport this afternoon to refuel a Fairchild plane he bought in Los Angeles and was piloting to Salem. He continued north after his plane had been refueled. Drunks Fined Four Indians from Klamath county, arrested by city police last night, paid S10 fines in citv court this morning They were Ralph W Tice, 28, Lee Wilson, 34 and Amy Knight, 48, who wtre fined for being drunk. Thev were all in an automobile driven by Richard Peters, 18, who was cited for having no operator's li cense and fined S3, police said Robert William Anderson, 27 charged with begging on the street, was given a 10-day "float er" out of town. Airport Arrivals Todty's ar rivals at Medford municipal air port included three army avia tors from Fort Lewis, Wash. Each piloting a Douglas observa tion plane, they were Ilaj. G H. Gale, Lieut. W. E. Stone and Sgt. Ray Stockwell. Gale was en route to Moffett field, Sunny vale, Cal., the others to Sacra mento air depot. Stockwell de parted as soon as his plane had been refueled and the other two were to continue their flights this afternoon. Each piloting a new Stinson plane to be deliv ered to the Commercial Air craft company in Portland, G H. Horn and Stanley Spencer left this morning for Portland, They arrived yesterday after noon from Oakland, Cal., after making a cross-country flight from the Stinson plant in Michi gan. John R. Cattron arrived from Hillsboro yesterday in his Taylor Cub and continued tc Sacramento after his ship had been refueled. Plane Passengers Ned Porter left by United Mainliner this noon for Los Angeles. The plane, due here at 10:55, was about an hour late because of fog. The early morning northbound plane due here at 4:52 a. m., did not go through Medford until 11:30 a. m. C. L. Fitzwater arrived by Mainliner last night from the north. Mrs. C. Starkey arrlvea from the south last night and B. Sturtevant left on the same plane for Seattle. W. Baker lef by Mainliner last evening for San Francisco. B. Sturtevant ar rived from San Francisco yester day afternoon and leaving on the same plane were C. F. Arrow smith, to Portland, and C. S French to Seattle. Departing on the delayed forenoon plane yes terday were R. E. Barrimjton, to San Francisco, and Dr. A. W. Williams, to Los Angeles. Fog made plane schedules irregular last night. The southbound plane' due here at 11:50 p. m. left Seat tle early to avoid the fog, passed over Portland and came on to Medford, arriving here at 8:50 p. m. A second section was dis patched from Portland to make connections here. The Spokane plane, also passing up Portland, came on to Medford. Chorus To Meet Jackson County Teacher's chorus will re hearse Saturday morning at 10 in the county courthouse audi torium. Mrs. Brown Here Mrs. Herb Brown, a former Medford resi' dent who now resides in Pasa dena, Cal., and her small daugh ter are spending some time here. Mrs. Brown was called to Med ford by the death of her father, Frank J. Roberson who died on Tuesday. Band Elects Accordion band met Thursday and elected the following officers: Mike Thome- ley, business manager; Mary El liott, financial manager, Doro thy Coffcen, transportation man ager. The band will meet on Friday, November 24 instead of the regular meeting day, Thurs day. Thanksgiving day, to re hearse for Christmas opening. Mrs. Harry Prentice is director of the band. Car Overturned An automo bile operated by Bernard A. Wilder of 413 Kenwood Way turned over at Fourth and Ivy streets yesterday afternoon by Homer L. Elwood of 43 North Orange street, according to a city police repost today. The Wilder car was traveling south on Ivy street and the Elwood machine was moving east on Fourth street at the time of the collision, police said. There were no serious injuries to occupants of the autos, according to po lice reports. NAZIS UNINTERESTED IN MEDIATION OFFER; E Berlin, Nov. 17 TP) Author ized sources said today any gen eral mediation offer by president Roosevelt at this time would bo "uninteresting" so far as Ger many is concerned. France's injection of Austrian restitution into the issues nt stake in the European conflict, these sources declared, shows conclusively the allies regard all peace talks as futile. However, should President Roosevelt ask both sides to disclose war aims to him with a view to finding some common basis for mediation, Germany would be most likely to respond, these sources Intimated. The western front was quiet today, however. A communique from the army high command said: "In the west, with minor local artillery annoyance fire, no note worthy fighting activity." Princess Ingrid Expects Copenhagen, Nov. 17. 0P- News that the first child of! Crown Prince Frederik and Princess Ingrid is expected in April caused rejoicing In Den-1 mark today.
