Local members who enter tained the visitors at luncheon at the Hotel Medford were Mes dames A. E. Orr, Tim Daily, R. J. Conroy, H. B. Kellom, Belle Thompson, Jerry Jerome, George Codding, T. J. Fuson. F. G. Bunch, Keith Kittle, Kurt Wins ton, Laddie Selkirk and H. C. Wells and the Misses Jerry Bunch, Helen Thompson and Margo Boyle. Mr. Selkirk, club pro, was also a guest at the af fair. A handicap tournament fol lowed luncheon and Mrs. John son and Mrs. Reimer were win ners of golf balls for low net play. In the Wednesday handicar tournament which followed a no host luncheon in clubrooms for local members, Mrs. Keith Kittle and Mrs. F. G. Bunch were win- Musical Program Presented by Club Rogue Valley College Wo men's club enjoyed a recent meeting held at the attractive home of Mrs. George Canode on Crown Hill. William Willltts sang 'The Old Road" by John Prindell Scott and for an encore he ren dered "The Top o' The Morn ing," by Mana Zuca. He was accompanied by his mother on the piano. Miss Maxine Conover was heard In the following violin numbers, "Adoration" by Bor owskl and "Moment Musicals" by Schubert. Mrs. John Lawrence pre sented a very Interesting and Instructive resume on the cur rent neutrality act. She pleaded for sane thinking and warned against propaganda. Refreshments were served af ter the outstanding program by Miss Ora Cox, chairman. She was assisted by Mrs. Aletha Vawtcr, Mrs. Glenn Taylor and Miss Clark. All classes are free of charge and are conducted by Mrs. Elizabeth Edmondson at her studio, 854 West Second street. The school is sponsored by the state board of education. Schedule for the week is as follows: Monday, 7 to 9 p. m. Water- colors. Tuesday, 1 to 3 p. m. Basketry; 3 to 5 p. m. Oil paint ing; 7 to 9 p. m. Commercial art and portrait drawing. M. 9 tihi wnnihi&i ifV;niiin- 1 IN I Symphony Concert Date November 1 At High School Southern Oregon residents are anticipating the concert sched uled for Wednesday evening. November 1 at 8:15 o'clock in the high school to be presented by the Southern Oregon Sym phony orchestra under the di rection of John R. Knight. The event was postponed from last May. Season tickets sold at that time will be honored at the door and single admissions arc now available at Pruitt's Radio and Music Center or from any Zonta club member. The club is sponsoring the concert. An interesting feature of the entertainment will be a group of four vocal numbers presented under the direction of Miss I loy Young. Two selections will be given by the 140 student chorus of the high school and two by a capella choir of the school Card PartyHeld At Anderson Home An enjoyable event of Wed nesday evening was the card party held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Anderson on Oak Wood drive. The affair started at the home of Miss Dorothy Gill. It pro gressed from there to the home of Mrs. Harry Steele and then went on to the residence of Mrs. Victor Kengla. At each home a dinner course was served and gifts presented to the honoree. Those present were the Misses Frida Caullins, Iola Lewis, Jeanne Grantham, Dorothy Cox, Betty Johnston, Dorothy Gill and Mesdames Bernard Math ews, Ernest Beer. Miner Bosh ears, Harry Steele and Victor Kengla. Mrs. Marshall's marriage was an event of last week in Reno, Nev. Salem Women are Medford Visitors Interesting visitors in Med ford from their respective homes in Salem are Mrs. Jessie Jones and Mrs. Wharton West. Mrs. Jones is the house guest of her son-in-law and daughter, Mrs. and Mrs. Jack Porter at their home on Minnesota ave. Mrs. West is visiting the J Frank Reinharts at their Crater Lake avenue residence. She is Mrs. Reinhart's mother. The visitors expect to be here until Tuesday. Mrs. Emmens Home From Bay District Mrs. J. J. Emmens returned to her home on Siskiyou Heights Thursday from San Francisco where she had visited for sev eral days. In the bay city she Joined her son, Lieut. Robert Emmens and his bride, the former Miss Jus tine Miller. Their marriage was an impressive event of October 14 in St. Mark's Episcopal church here and after a honey moon in San Francisco will make their home in Riverside, Cal., where Lieut. Emmens is stationed with the Army Air corps at March Field. P. T. A. Activities Washington School P.T.A. has plans well under way for a fam ily dinner on the evening of November 3rd. with an interest ing motion picture to follow. Due to Teachers Institute there will be no October meet ing. Church Bridge Parly Is Soon St. Mark's Episcopal church guild will entertain with a des sert bridge and pinochle party on November 3 at 7:30 o'clock in the parish hall on North Oak dale avenue. Zonta Club to Convene Monday Zonta club will meet at the Girls' Community clubhouse Monday evening at 8 o'clock to hear Miss Josephine Kirtley pre sent a report concerning the re cent district Zonta conference held in Tacoma, Wash. Plans will also be discussed for the Southern Oregon Sym phony concert to be held here soon. The club sponsors the or chestra. Study Club Will Convene Monday Lincoln school study club will meet Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the school lunchroom. The topic, "Cooperation Fam ilies" will be discussed through out the evening. A meeting of committee chairmen for the Hal lowe'en carnival will follow the session at 3:45. Thirteenth Club Has Meeting The Thirteenth club was en tertained recently at the home of Mrs. Jvan Gay with a cov ered dish luncheon. A beautiful bowl of nasturtiums formed the centerpiece. Guests of the club were Mrs. Hattie Romine and George Gay. Eleven members were present. Games and sew ing were enjoyed and Mrs. Mary Corbett won the prize. The club will be entertained at the home of Mrs. Leon Broun for a Hallowe'en party October 30. Regular meeting will be held November 1 at Mrs. Carol Poe's, 902 North Central ave nue. SECURE TICKETS NOW Current Bowmer Play in Ashland Lauded by Many The many Medford persons who are familiar with the plays directed by Angus Bowmer, drama department head at the Southern Oregon College of Education, will not want to miss his latest production which was attended by a large crowd on the opening night Friday snd will be presented again on Tues day evening. "Mr. Pirn Passes By" by A. A. Milne, is Mr. Bowmer's current play. It is being presented in the college gymnasium in "sta dium style," with the action tak ing place in the center of the room and the audience seated on the four sides. Curtain rises at 8:30 t'clock. "Mr. Pirn Passes By" is decid edly a comedy. Friday even- j ing's appreciative audience found it indeed amusing. Mr. Bowmer chose -for his cast an experienced 1 group, having seen action in his previous plays, "You Can't Take It With You," "Dangerous Cor ners," and others. Alice Crow Is Party Honoree A no-host dinner and dancing party held Saturday evening at the Chateau honored Mrs. Alice Crow, the occasion celebrating her birthday. Voters League To Hold Meet Jackson County League of Women Voters will hold a de partment meeting at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Girls' Community clubhouse. Mrs. Stephen Nye, Jr., chair man of the government and op eration department will be in charge of the session which has been called for the purpose of preparing material for the No vember meeting on simplifica tion of the amending process for the national constitution. Garden Instruction Many members of the Garden clubs from Klamath Falls, Ash land, Medford, Gold Hill and Illinois Valley attended the school of instruction in flower show judging held in Grants Pass this past week, under the supervision of Mrs. Daniel Heff- ner of Portland and Mrs. Harry O. Eagle Auxiliary Will Observe Date The auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles will convene at 7 o'clock Tuesday evening to observe the eighth anniversary of the institution of the auxiliary- A banquet will be served in the hall and all members of the lodge and auxiliary are asked to attend. Visitors are expected to attend from Klamath Falls. Games, music and a program will be enjoyed throughout the evening's anniversary celebration. 4$ ?! Younger Set Enjoys Dinner Party Saturday The East Main street home of the John C. Mann's was the scene of an enjoyable dinner party Saturday evening. Participating in the no-host supper affair were the Misses Barbara Lemmon, Jean Gold smith, Betty Tudwell, Muriel Stocks and Margaret Mary Mann and Messrs. Philip Todd, Walt S e t h e r, Clayson Perry, Al Vaughn and Frank Markey. Following dinner the group attended a formal dancing party at the Southern Oregon College of Education in Ashland. 1 Shower Party Is Given for Bride Mrs. Dale Hale, the former Miss Ilo Morningstar, was hon ored Thursday evening at a shower party given by Vera Hale and Mrs. R. Bridge Tea Is Enjoyable Event Unit number one of St. Anne's Altar society entertained last week with a bridge tea at the country home of Mrs. Joe Du gan. Fall flowers about the room formed an attractive setting for the affair and tea was served from a table appointed with pottery and silver. Eight tables of bridge were In play during the afternoon with Mrs. Ray Lewis and Mrs. Clara Fisher receiving high scores. Mrs. C. R. Schmidt assisted Mrs. Dugan during the pleasant event.
