Fourteen members of the local Odd Fellows lodge journeyed to the Grants Pass lodge October 11, where they conferred the first degree on two candidates. Also, the local Odd Fellows took their candidate, Harry Newn ham, to Central Point, October 16, for the Initiatory degree. Crelghton Thompson, Mall Tribune carrier in Gold Hill, suffered a broken collar-bone as the result of a tackle in the Gold Hill-Talent football game Fri day. Gold Hill defeated Talent, 14 to 6. The Pacific beauty shop, a completely remodeled shop on the ground floor of the Odd Fellows building, was opened recently by Mrs. Elsie Cameron, who reports a rushing business. Bill Cook, G. G. Robbins and George Myers have returned Lfrom a hunting trip to Lakeview. They reported seeing many deer, mostly docs, but returned empty handed. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Cagwln of Sylvan Park, New York, who have been vacationing here for the past month, have gone to California. Mr. and Mrs. George Tulare have returned from Portland, where Mrs. Tulare visited while Mr. Tulare spent the summer In Alaska. Shady Cove, Oct. 19. (Spl.) Mr. and Mrs. Claude Turner have returned from Bismark, N, D., where they have been trans acting business for some time. Mr. and Mrs. Gallop of Cen tral Point visited Mr. and Mrs. S. K. William Winkle was hurt Fri day evening by a hit and run driver as he was walking on the Crater Lake highway. There were no witnesses and it was impossible to tell who it was. Mrs. Brewer of Montana, who has been visiting her son. GeorRe Brewer here for some time, has returned home. She is 87 years old, and has a son George, a grandson George and two great grandsons here. Another son and wife and two children ac companied her here. It was the first time the family had been together for sometime. George Brewer, Jr., is working at Oak ridge road near Eugene, Ore. Thomas King has returned from Corvallis, Ore., where he worked all summer. Mr. and Mrs. Hillerj Todd and son Don and Mrs. Dean Wheatman visited at Mr. and Mrs. John Leaden's October 15. 4 Sams Valley Sams Valley, Oct. 19. (Spl.) Burle and Norman Burrcson and Jerome Fitzgerald returned home Sunday from a week's hunting trip near Seneca and Burns in eastern Oregon. They made the return trip via the McKenzic Pass and visited In Corvallis with Gerald Fitzgerald before continuing home. They brought back a nice mulotai! deer. Glen Garrett and J. Stubble field are expected home this week from a trip into Deschutes county and on to Portland. Another of the popular dances will be given In the local Grange hall Saturday night, October 21. Mrs. Nora Straus enjoyed a trip to Crater lake October 15. Turner, the club's delegate to the national convention In Indianapolis this summer, will be present to give his report. Y., visited Wednesday with his cousin, Mrs. Jim Rummel. Fol lowing visits Thursday and Fri day with other relatives in the valley, he left for Los Angeles, expecting to visit the fair en route. Leslie Bigham of Medford hunted pheasants in the ranch of his brother Elbert, Sunday. He was one of many hunters in this community whose shots fill ed the air during the opening day of the season. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bigham and daughters and Mr. Hare of Tilla mook were Sunday callers at the Louis Anderson home. The Misses Virginia and Flor ida Klssling of Portland were overnight guests of Mrs. Harvey Stanley last Wednesday.
