Tree Budding A sycamore tree on the south side of the Jackson county courthouse Is now budding profusely, though the dead leaves of autumn are still clinging to some of Ite branches. The unseasonal budding was attributed by horticulturists to warm air issuing from the windows of the county clerk's office near which the tree stands. The trco Is also In a sheltered spot and re ceives the warming rays of the sun whenever It shines. He suffered a heart attack in his home on South Riverside avenue early this morning. On Vacation Mr. and Mrs. George Robertson of 203 North Ivy street, left this morning by motor car for a tO-days' vacation In California. In Vlsalia they will visit Pete Denm, owner of the Johnson hotel and a former manager of the Hotel Med ford. Later they will spend some time in San Francisco. Free Dinner Southern Oregon Movie club will hold a dinner-meeting In the small dining room of the Hotel Holland at 6:30 Thursday. Snow Settles G round cover of snow In Crater Lake national park had settled to 98 Inches at head quarters this morning, rangers said in their dally broadcast. Roais through the park were In good con dition but the drive to the lake rim was somewhat Icy, they stated. Motor ists were travelling through the park without tire chains, they said, though travellers were advised to have chains in their cars In case of emergency. Weather this morning waa partly cloudy but visibility was good. Temperature yesterday ranged from a high of 40 degrees to a low of 30. of Portland Bicycles Stolen Robert Mitchell of 619 South Riverside avenue told police his Columbia bicycle, license 661, was stolen from the Junior high school yesterday. Recovering Mrs. Martha Hadtey. , confined In Sncred Heart hospital with Injuries sustained In an auto mobile accident at West Tenth and King streets Sunday morning, was reported slowly recovering today, al though still not completely out of danger. She was a passenger In a machine driven by her son-in-law. J, B. Carr, whose auto was struck by one operated by Mrs. Edna V. Chamberlain, police reported. Eagles Tn Donate All members of the Eaglps fraternity and auxiliary are to bring old and discarded toys to their regular weekly meetings In the lodge hall at 42 North Front street at 7:30 tomorrow night. It was an nounced today by A. H. Banwell. aerie president. The old playthings will be turned out to the fire de partment in whose workshop they will be converted into new toys for distribution amone poor children at Christmas. Two years ago the Eagles lodge and auxiliary contributed a truckload of discarded toys' and Mr. Banwell said It Is hoped even more will be donated this year. On Winter Duly Francis G. Lange. landscape architect of the national park service, left here Monday for San Francisco where he will be sta tioned during the winter at the park service regional office. It Is expected that he will made periodic trips to Medford during the winter. He Is assigned to Crater Lake and La&sen Volcanic national parks, the Oregon Caves and Lava Beds national monu ments and the state parks of Oregon. Most of the summer he spends at Crater lake and hnd been working at Crater Lake national park headquar ters here prior to hia departure for San Francisco. Monte Brooks, of Portland, will be master of ceremonle on a program featuring some outstanding act from Portland, as well as a fine array of local talent. Whipple's orchestra has been engaged In addition to the many other performers and will furnish music for the dance which will be held at the armory Saturday evening. The show will be open both eve nings and In addition to the fine en tertainment variety and the complete line of new automobiles, prize will be awarded to those attending and participating In a quebliun hud an swers contest. f FOR SIXTH DAY Fog for the alxth consecutive day kept United Air Lines service out of Medford today. Service, however, was to be re sumed between Portland and Oak land, Calif., and for & time It was thought the two mid - afternoon planea might be able to make their scheduled landings at the Medford municipal airport. Hope of a service resumption here, however, waned as the afternoon wore on and the 500 foot celling failed to lift.
