Driver Sentenced Robert Toung. IS, of the Four Comers received a co-day suspended sentence In Justice of the peace court this morning for driving a car without an operator's license. State police charged he vio lated his student's permit which con fined his driving to trips between home and school. The stjdent plead ed guilty, Visitors Here MaJ. W. C. Jr., of 1211 East Jackson boulevard was fined no In city court this morning for failure to give right-of-way, following an accident at West Sixth and Holly streets Thursday morning. Involving his machine and one operated by William H. McDenlel of Medford. Edna A. Tengwald of Kings highway and Cecil Carlton Evans of West Sixth streets drove cars colliding at North Central ave nue and Fifth atreet Thursday after noon. Vehicles driven by H. D. Neely of 139 Kenwood avenue and S. M. Wagoner of Medford were Involved in a slight mishap Thursday after noon at Oakdale and Stewart ave nues, Klnal Salto of 141 North Fir street and Dr. F. L. To this end the postmaster pointed out that descriptive literature of valley attractions may be procured at the Jackson County Chamber of commerce. He suggested that these descriptive folders be sent to rela tives and friends all over the United States. In this way, Mr. DeSouza said, attention can be centered on the valley as a desirable place to vacation and live. New Residence Harold O. Fredericks, 94, of 444 South Grape atreet was fined 815 and 84.50 costs by Judge William R. Coleman In the Justice of the pesos court this afternoon for passing a car on the Pacific highway near Phoenix. October 6. when there was not sufficient clearance. The complaint was filed by state police. Fredericks pleaded guilty. Hurt by Rock John Walsh of Lake Creek suffered an Injured shoul der while he was working on the Skyline Trail of the Rogue River national forest, and was being brought to Medford this afternoon for treat ment, headquarters here announced. Walsh was hit by a flying rock after a dynamite blast. It was stated. Exact extent of the Injuries was not known here. Begin Filming Of Medford News Reel With School Views Yesterday marked the beginning of the filming of The Mall Tribune Medford newsreel. One of the first big scenes which will be used In making up this local news attr&ctlon was filmed on Main street ss the Senior High school girls' pep band paraded through the busi ness district heralding the first big football game of the season to be played tonight by the Medford Tigers and the Roseburg Indians, at the high school field. Early this morn ing again found the cameraman on the Job erecting the elaborate motion picture and sound equipment on the corner of Main and Central, and was all prepared to film the sur pentlne pep parade as they psssed the all-seeing lens of the camera. Several hundred people gathered around the four cornera of the Inter section to watch the "shooting" and It Is hoped that too much attention was not directed to the filming of the picture to the detriment of the purpose of the parade. Already many plana have been made for the shooting of local or ganizations which will be Included In The Mall Tribune newsreel when It Is presented on the screen at' tha, Rialto Theater Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, October 18. 19. 30. In con Junction with the presentation of Medford's first all-sound local movie, "Runnln" Wild." The director In charge of the production of the local attraction spent much time discussing with Mrs. Harry Prentice the possibility of fea turing the Southern Oregon Accor dlan band which, It la understood, Is composed of 50 talented accordlan players. This bsnd, It Is ssld. will be one of the featured attractions at the flhasta-Cascade Wonderland as sociation convention to be held next week In Ashland, and many of their solo players have been Invited to record their talent on the stage of the Rialto theater next Tuesday and Wednesday nights, when sound audi tions will be held for the purpose of selsctlng talent for "Runnln Wild." C. O. Smith, principal of the Med ford Senior high school. Is lending his co-operation In aiding the pro ducer select some of the principal dramatic players who will be seen on the screen In this local attrac tion. Wilson Waits, musical director of the high school, and other mem bers of the faculty In touch with the better dramatic and vocal talent of the school, have also offered their co-operation.
