This Is a form of melan cholia In which the patient la re duced to long periods of morbidness or hypochrondrla. The system la Inexpensive, easy to regulate and apply and easy to use without the previous knowledge of the patient which la a necessary requisite In the cure of Insanity by shock. The shock Is introduced Into the patient through a headpiece much In the form of earphones, ' Cerlettl has experimented with mental cases and he declares that he is satisfied with the results. Ho admits that the sysiom la not en tirely perfected and that further experiments will have to be con ducted before tt can be universally pplled. Should the system live up to Its Inventor's expectations It would be a tremendous contribution to the therapeutic field because It could be applied to an estimated 80 per cent of the Inmates of asylums.
