Pendleton waa dull, but Its covered bridge did offer a. little fun because of the people who huddled Inside It. Some brave soul fired at us with a rifle tliey must have been warned. Walla Walla was bettor. There, we conceived the Idea of bombing the state prison walls. Some prisoners were killed, I suppose; but hundreds of others must have escaped to har ry the countryside. Sound strategy, beyond a doubt. Spokane took little time. When we tod broken Hie railroad and split those lovely green reservoirs, we went right on, not even bothering to do a complete Job on the grain elevators. I thought It careless, myself. After tnat, trie trip was tiring, vnj Seattle was left, and we had so few bombs our men use too many on earn Job we had to stop soon alter we had wrecked the locks and set (Ira to two or three ships In the har bor. On a three weeks' flying tour of America for tha purpose of gather ing material for use on his nest two short wave programs, Mr. Cate arrived by United Airliner from Port land Monday night and left for San Francisco on an airliner Tuesday. He traveled to Crater lake, seeing tha beautiful lake for the first time, and In tha evening was taken for an automobile ride through hlatorlo Jacksonville and tha foot hill district by A. 8. "Although I had read thousands of words describing the beautlea of Crater lake snd listened to countless visitors tell of tta aplendor, I was totally unprepared for It vision."
