PAGE threp: IS MEN BY POLICE AFTER BRIEF BREAK Buford Allen. 3b, an Inmate of the Oregon stats hospital In Salem who escaped trom that Institution Aug 8, was taken Into custody by city police last night after he had foiled one attempt by an officer to take him to Jail. He will be returned to the hospital tomorrow or Thursday. Allen was arrested first In Hie Ho tel Grand. As the police officer was leading him to the door. Allen broke away and ran across the railroad tracks and disappeared. At 11:40 about two hours later, tha Hotel Medford notified police that Allen' was there and this time when police took him under their wing he didn't try to escape. Police learned ti at Allen stayed at the Hotel Holland Sunday night and left without paying for his room. He also had registered at the Hotel Med ford. He had been a resident of the Anseraon creek dis trict for 15 years end the Sterling district for seven, having moved re cently to Jacksonville. Mr. Young was born In Nova Sco tia October 1, 1860. He was a brother-in-law of W. ii. Maltby of Med ford. Funeral services will be held at the graveside In the Jacksonville cemetery at 2 p. m. Wednesday, A. J. Hanby officiating.
