It was explained. One quart of water roaches the boiling point In two minutes with the new unit. It Is called a tranapeed Induction cooking unit. It employs the Induc tion method of heating, with all the bent being generated within the utensil, while the unit remains com paratively cool. When the unit la turned on, a powerful magnet holds the utensil In place and It cannot be removed until the current Is turned off. Magnetio lines of force are In troduced Into the utensil, generat ing the heat within the utensil It self. Although the new cooking unit is sow on the market, It doesn't out date present equipment, according to Mr. Runyard. However, It will prove a tremendous benefit to certain es tablishments which desire Ughtnlng fast speed In cooking. R, Durham of the Salvation Army. Adjutant Durham has been pro moted to a divisional position In Portland and will leave Medford Monday after serving as the Salva tion Army head here for the past five years. The tribute was paid to Adjutant and Mrs. Durham with a testimo nial luncheon In the Hotel Medford. The gathering presented the Dur- hams with a traveling bag and Boy Scouts presented them with a set of book ends. Little Patricia Banwell made a picture of blonde loveliness as she thanked Adjutant Durham for his sympathetic Interest In children dur ing his service here. Sea Scouts Larry Schade, Jr., Chris Barker snd Don Younger and Senior Scoutcr Jack Thompson thanked the adjutant for his unselfish service to various groups of people In this district. M. N. Hogan who presided, said It had been his pleasure In the past few years to serve with Adjutant Durham In Community Chest work. He described the adjutant as a real giver, one who gives from his heart In service to humanity. An organi zation, said Mr. Hogan. Is Judged by Its personnel and by this standard the Salvation army ha3 been elevated by Mr. and Mrs. Durham. Mr. Hogan made the presentation of the travel ing bag to the adjutant. Adjutant Durham said the gift would always remind him and Mrs. Durham of the lasting friendships they have made In Medford. These friendships, he added, make It dif ficult for him to leave, saying it would be his preference to remain here, but for the opportunity af forded by his" transfer to widen the scope of his service. Whatever has been accomplished here by the Salvation Army is due to the cooperation of the people of the county, Adjutant Durham said. "Nowhere have I ever found a city more cooperative than Med ford," he declared. Dr. Sherman L. Divine .pastor of the Presbyterian church announced that the weekly outdoor vesper ser vice in city park Sunday evening would be a civic farewell to Adju tant and Mrs. Durham and he in vited the public to attend. Harrison first saw the great rock he believes to be U:e meteor when. ss a boy of 14, he accompanied his father Into the Salmon mountain range. They met Dr. C. D. Elgin who located a nickel claim In a gulcc drained by Poverty creek.
