The new type cooking unit, dovel
oped by the Oris weld Manufacturing
company after 15 years Intensive
research, Is twice as fast doing the
same Job as present electric units.

cooking unit. It employs the Induc
tion method of heating, with all the

removed until the current Is turned
off. Magnetio lines of force are In
troduced Into the utensil, generat
ing the heat within the utensil It
self. Although the new cooking unit is
sow on the market, It doesn't out
date present equipment, according to
Mr. Runyard. However, It will prove
a tremendous benefit to certain es
tablishments which desire Ughtnlng

hoppers fly.
In an effort to obtain this In
formation, 4,000 'hoppers found In
the area 13 miles northwest of Sid
ney were painted bright gold color.

tells of the marriage of a prominent
Medford resident, Miss Eleanor Cur
ry, daughter of Mr. James R. Cur
ry of Marlon, Ind., and the sister of
Mr. Allen D. Curry of this City.
Miss Curry was wed to Mr. Orvllle
Hamilton at a pretty ceremony on
June 13 In the Christian church In
Santa Ana, Cel. Only Immediate mem
bers of the family and close friends
attended the service. The Rev. Mr.
Buchanan performed the rites.
Mrs., Hamilton, a popular member
of local society, taught In the Med
ford schools for a number of years,
recently being a member of the Lin
coin school faculty. She was out
standing In civic musical events here.
Mr. Hamilton Is the brother of the
Rev. James M. Hamilton of this city
The couple will reside for the pres
ent In Anaheim, Cel. Mrs. Hamilton
plans on returning to Medford to re
sume her teaching at the Lincoln
school this fall.
It was erroneously stated In yester
day's paper that Miss Grace Curry
was married.

The Peets are on an extended tour
of National parks and are going on
to California and Mexico before re
turning to their heme. The visitors
were greatly Impressed with Oregon

Salvation Army Leader and
Wife Hear Tributes On
Eve of Departure for
Duty in Portland Office
Seventy men and women repre
senting more than 40 Jackson county
organizations paid a farewell tribute
this afternoon to Adjutant and Mrs.
O. R, Durham of the Salvation Army.
Adjutant Durham has been pro
moted to a divisional position In
Portland and will leave Medford
Monday after serving as the Salva
tion Army head here for the past
five years.
The tribute was paid to Adjutant
and Mrs. Durham with a testimo
nial luncheon In the Hotel Medford.
The gathering presented the Dur-
hams with a traveling bag and Boy
Scouts presented them with a set
of book ends.
Little Patricia Banwell made a
picture of blonde loveliness as she
thanked Adjutant Durham for his
sympathetic Interest In children dur
ing his service here. Sea Scouts
Larry Schade, Jr., Chris Barker snd
Don Younger and Senior Scoutcr
Jack Thompson thanked the adjutant
for his unselfish service to various
groups of people In this district.
M. N. Hogan who presided, said It
had been his pleasure In the past
few years to serve with Adjutant
Durham In Community Chest work.
He described the adjutant as a real
giver, one who gives from his heart
In service to humanity. An organi
zation, said Mr. Hogan. Is Judged by
Its personnel and by this standard
the Salvation army ha3 been elevated
by Mr. and Mrs. Durham. Mr. Hogan
made the presentation of the travel
ing bag to the adjutant.
Adjutant Durham said the gift
would always remind him and Mrs.
Durham of the lasting friendships
they have made In Medford. These
friendships, he added, make It dif
ficult for him to leave, saying it
would be his preference to remain
here, but for the opportunity af
forded by his" transfer to widen the
scope of his service.
Whatever has been accomplished
here by the Salvation Army is due
to the cooperation of the people of
the county, Adjutant Durham said.
"Nowhere have I ever found a
city more cooperative than Med
ford," he declared.
Dr. Sherman L. Divine .pastor of
the Presbyterian church announced
that the weekly outdoor vesper ser
vice in city park Sunday evening
would be a civic farewell to Adju
tant and Mrs. Durham and he in
vited the public to attend. Adjutant
Durham will deliver his farewell ser
mon and city leaders will take part
in the program, Dr. Divine said.

Pioneer Miner Discloses
Site of Missing Meteor

Noted geolcgtsts who have sought the
long-missing Port Orford meteor for
years probably felt a little upset to
day when Robert Harrison, pioneer
miner, announced he had known Its
location since 1883.
Harrison first saw the great rock
he believes to be U:e meteor when.
ss a boy of 14, he accompanied his
father Into the Salmon mountain
range. They met Dr. C. D. Elgin who
located a nickel claim In a gulcc
drained by Poverty creek.
After Dr. Elgin's death, Harrison
found the claim again In 1900 large- ,
ly because he recalled the presence
cf a hard, heavy stone, rich In nick
el ere. He sent a specimen to Dr. J.

Secretary Hull told globe clrcler
Howard Hughes today that his epic
airplane flight lost week contrtbuteu
"healthfully" to the peace of the
world.
"We have received messages of fel
icitation from foreign chiefs of state
and the foreign press that bos been
unstinted In Its praise," said Hull In
an official Washington welcome for
the filer.
Hull continued:
"In the field of scientific achieve
ment, differences of nationality are
forgotten , . . The vast majority of
scientific men throughout the world
are working together In. an unselfish
spirit of cooperation.
"I firmly believe that the peace
of the world depends upon the adop
tion of A similar attitude In the
fields of commercial and political re
lations, where frequently It has been
regrettably lacking.
"Ventures such as yours, which de
pend for success upon close and
friendly cooperation of officials and
private citizens In many lands, are
healthful reminders of the advant
ages which may be gained from sucn
cooperative effort by and among na
tions." Hughes shook hands warmly as
Hull finished.
"I thank you," he said In reply.
"I thank you very much Indeed on
behalf of my companions and on my
behalf for the valuable assistance
given us by the United States gov- :
ernment.
"Without this assistance our flight
could not have been made, or even
attempted."

sonian museum.
The miner, who estimated the rock
was burled deeply In the ground and
weighed 16 or 20 tons, said he was
offered no financial assistance and
promptly forgot the proposal. His In
terest In the rock was revived by pub
licity about the meteor last winter.
Harrison said the rock was about
one and a quarter miles from t:e,
U. 8. Chromium, Inc., camp. It Is !
about 30 or 40 miles southeast of
Port Orford and about 13 miles from
Powers and five miles from the for
est service road to China, Flats.
. The rock apparently sliced through'
Bald Knob and descended Into the
gulch where the years have covered
It with undergrowth.
