July . (Bpl.) Many visitors sought the moun tain areas to spend their Fourth of July holiday, and reaching the forest service lookout here, were Inspired with the panoramlo view of Jackson county from Ita towering heights. Snow drifts previously had block ed the road to Dutchman's Peak summit, and Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Cameron, formerly of Oklahoma and now of Rogue River valley, were the first to drive their ear up the south slope of the peak to Its pinnacle dwelling. Mr. and Mra. Cameron were accompanied by Oklahoma guests, May and John Dunlap, Othor Rlchey and Warden Loyd. Words courd not express their appreciation of the beauty of Rogue River valley as seen from the Siskiyou mountain top. They stated that the scenery had not been equaled since they crossed the Rockies en route - to Jackson county, and they were ex ceptionally pleased with the fact that Dutchman's peak Is not a snake Infested area. The visitors said they would be frequent callers at the lookout this season. Bill Alcken, In charge of the lookout, also appre ciated the southern hospitality of his guests, having been presented with a chocolate cake by Mrs, Came ron, v Visit Wagner (lap County Commissioner Ralph Bil lings of Ashland, accompanied by Mis. Billings and friends, were among those vlaltlng Wagner Gap guard station. Mr. and Mrs. M. Ottoman and Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Woodford of Medford also motored to the sta- . tlon. where they visited Robert Ottoman, son of the former couple, who haa charge of the post. Thirty picnickers and fishermen were re ported at the gap during the day. Walker, owners of a Talent grocery, visited Hugh Suurtleff at Anderson Butte look out. Mr. and Mrs. Walker said they were seeking a place of solitude to spend the Fourth, and came upon this mountain habitation unawares, not realising that a modern glass house had been built In that area. Mra. Ruth Fox and R.'E. Spence of Portland wero guests of the former's son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Fox, at Sturgls guard station.
