Cal.. fullered a broken right leg. and X-ray pictures were being taken this after noon In Community hospital to deter mine whether she sustained a skull fracture In an automobile accident at noon today on the new stretch of Pacific highway near Talent. She was in a semi-conscious condition, hos . pltal attendants stated. The wreck occurred, state police said, when Mr. and Mrs. Held, trav eling north l a, 1938 Studebaker coupe, attempted to pass an uniden tified truck moving In the same di rection and at the intersection of the A highway and a gravel road leading to Talent. State police quoted Mr. Reld . as saying that Just as his machine drew abreast of the truck, the truck driver suddenly signaled for a left turn and swung his vehicle toward the gravel road. Mr. Held told police he swerved sharply to the left side of the high way to avoid a collision and managed to pass the truck by traveling on the left shoulder of the road. When he jerked his auto back onto the high way he was unable to straighten It out, and the machine crossed the road and smashed Into the ditch on the right aide, he explained to the offi cer. Mr. Reld told police the truck continued on up the gravel road without stopping after the accident. Mr. Reld sustained a skinned knw and nana and was uted by the state police officer. Neither be nor his wife, only passengers, were thrown clear of the car. The machine wiv towed to the Lewis Super Service station with a badly damaged front end. 4iOW THEY? (AP) Delegates to the 86th Oregon Meth odist Episcopal church conference paid homage yesterday to Jason Lee, pioneer Methodist missionary, on the 100th anniversary of his first sermon to Indians at Pulpit Rock. The delegates were warned by Dr. TJ. O. Dubach. dean of men at Ore gon State college, that the church should return to the philosophy of Lee. as expressed in his words: T 4 see what God wants donfriend I'll do it at no matter what cost."
