(UP) The historically - famed Plymouth Rock 'vas painted red during the night, the caretaker discovered today. State police were asked by local police to check fingerprint round on the paint can. Caretaker John Scan Ion and Peter Moskos. who us ually sells popcorn to tourists at the rock, scrubbed the rock clean with gasoline. The rock was supposed to have been used as a stepping atone when the Pilgrims landed from the May flower. V MODERN FUEl f Je only fue tnL nstanfy '0 COUNTY TO HAVE SPECIAL AIRMAIL PICK-UP SERVICE Cars Will Collect Letters in Cities of Region for Official Plane Dispatch From Medford May 19th Arra n gem n t were com pie ted to day by Postmaster Frank DcSouza for a special Jackson pick-up service on Thursday, May 19 when an official plane will leave here to connect with Grants Pass, Roseburg. Cottage Drove and Portland as part of National Air mail Week observance. The special pick-up service will give each locality of the county an opportunity to dispatch airmail on tha author, ?1 flight. Mr. DcSouza explained. The airmail thus plckd up will be brought to Medford and dispatched on the special plane leav ing the municipal airport at 10:30 a. m. Medford and several other Jackson county cities will have special cach ets for cancelling all outgoing airmail during National Airmail Week. Mny IS to 31.
