NOVEMBER 29. 1937. 2800 CCC GIVEN IN MEDFORD AREA More than 2800 Medford ' district CCO enrolleea have received the pneumonia Immunisation tritment$ offered by the war department to nil CCC men who core to take them, according to Ce.pt. H. T. Gentle, dis trict surgeon. Sufficient antigen for Immuniza tion against types 1 and 2 pneumo nia was received to supply half the men In the camps and no difficulty was experienced In finding that num ber willing to be Immunized, the surgeon said. Although the treatment Is fairly new to medicine, It has already proved Itself an almost sure pre ventive of pneumonia. Dr. Gentle re lated. The "shots" were offered last year and, although several cases of pneiunonla developed In the district, not a single case Involved a man who had taken the Immunization treatment, he stated. In the entire ninth corp area, out of 48 pneumonia cases last year, not a single case In- ; vol red a man who had taken thr i "shot," records show. The antigen Is produced at the army medical laboratories In Wash Ington, D. C, enough of It being avail able for half the men in the corps, or about 160,000. The cameraman spent two and a half hours filming the unusual golf game and other Crater Lake national park featuses. The film, after wilting and cutting. The spokesman expressed belief that the fall of Klangyln, behind the forts, after desperate street fight ing, would force the surrender of the strong but outflanked fortifica tions. As soon as they capitulate, he de clared, the Japanese plan to destroy the river barrier, proceed upstream and bombard Nanking from the Yangtze.
