Edgar A. Moore, owner oi the establishment, told police nothing else was missing. Entrance to the store was ellecwa by tearing down boards and cutting way wire netting Jrom the partition between the drug store's stock room In the basement and the machine mom of the building, police staiea. A hack saw was wrA to cut the vHr nettlnc which covered a hole In the partition, police believe. The robbery was discovered about 6 a.m. yesterday by Ralph Bowen, Janitor of the Fluhrer building at Main street and Central avenue. He had previously locked the basement door leading Into the engine room Wednesday evening, he told' city po lice, and discovered the door un locked yesterday morning. Because of the fact that all doors lock from the Inside, police believe the robber or robbers hid In the machine room and entered the stock room after business hours. Moore told city police he locked his establishment about 10:30 p.m. Prlday. He also stated that no drugs nor supplies of any kind were dis turbed. Professional offices on the second floor of the building, several oi which were entered recently, were undisturbed. TAKENBY DEATH Charles A. Alvord, 78. died at his home seven miles north of Orants Pass, Ore., Thursday morning of heart trouble and hardening of arteries. Ho was born Feb., 24. 1859, at Delaware Water Gap, penn. Mr. Alvord was married to Pearl Large Bt Minneap olis. Minn., Sept. 3, 1888. They were residents of worthlngton, Minn., and California for 14 years. Seven children were born to the union, four daughters and three sons. Six years ago the family moved to Phoenix, where they resided until a year ago. They have been residents of Josephine county for the past seven months. He wsa a member of the Modern Woodmen of America. He leaves his wife and daughters, Mrs. Lee Williams. Medford; Mrs. Don Van Derpoel, Riverside, Calif: sons, Floyd Alvord, Pasadena, Calif; Theo dore R.. Omnte Pass, Ore.; four grand children, and two great-gTandchll dren. Two daughters snd one son are deceased. Funeral services will be held at the Perl funeral home Saturday at 3:00 p. m.. Rev. W. A. Dawes and Rev. Sconce officiating. Interment In Sis. kiyou Memorial park. He was deacon of the Medford Baptist church and joined the Baptist faith at the age of 21 years. She cop ird the aerial numbers before spend ing the note in payment of a coal bin. D. M. Ladd. head of the Chicago office of the bureau of Investigation declined comment on the latest clue except to say the penciled numbers were "very Important." Ross was kidnaped September 35 on a highway. 15 miles west of Chi cago while returning from a dinner engagement at Sycamore, III., with his former secretary. Miss Florence Frethage. Sereno Holden. 83. a resident of Jackson county for the past 53 years, passed sway at Lake Creek where he had been making his home lor the last year with Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton Fox. Mr. Holden was born In Branch county, Mich., in 1855. When a small child his parents moved to town and at the age of nine years he was taken by them to Kansas where he grew to manhood and came with his parents to Jackson county, ore., in 1884, residing here since that time, most of which was spent at Ashland and Talent. In coming to Oregon . the family left the train at Redding which was then the end of the railroad and oame to the Rogue River valley by stage.. He leaves no relatives. He has Just concluded meetings In Ban Fran cisco and Sacramento. A report from the San Francisco series stated that It was one of the best In the history of the -church Uiere. The evangelist Is called the "Edgar Quest of the Gospel," from the fact that he la considered a gifted poet. This talent, woven Into his gospel messages, 1 adds much Interest and charm to his presentations, Mr. Wood rum having the faculty of mixing wit. satire and solemnity as an orator, said the Rev. Fred Weatherford, pas tor. Mr. Weatherford stated "we are happy to present to the public such a gifted genius'." The musical department will be assisted by Mrs. Lorena Robinson, soloist, and the Rev. The plane escaped damage and the passengers were un hurt. Department of commerce aides and the stat police reported they did not know the names of the air travelers except that both were from San Franolsco and one was named "Peacock." Airport officials said they had received no report or details of the mishap. State police reported they received a telephone call Thursday afternoon stating a plane had been flying over the Christie ranch for half an hour and was "lost and looking for a landing place." A state trooper was dispatched. In the meantime the plane landed In a pasture safely. Airport attaches said the two pas sengers obtained gasoline, and sur mised they Intended to continue their flight. The plane landed In rough coun try' A high fog nnd mist prevailed. (UP) Sixteen steel tanks, the largest weighing 460,000 pounds and extending 35 feet longer than a railroad flat car. hava been floated from Jersey City. N. J to Whiting. Ind., via the Barge canal. Medford; Carroll S., Bandon; and one daughter, Mrs. Luclle M. Dye, Burlingame, Calif., and three grandchildren. CAP) Three thousand Jews have been ousted from the German theater, motion pictures snd newspapers since- 1033, Propaganda Minister Joseph Goeb bels announced today at the annual meeting of the Reich culture cham ber of the strength through Joy organization. Chancellor Hitler attended the meeting. Goebbels announced also that a pension scheme for theatrical em ployes would be put Into operation January 1. The trade union com missioner, Robert Ley, discl05ed that 600.000.000 marks (about 9240,000. 000) had been spent to date on "beautifying labor." Of this sum. Can field, superintendent of Rocky Moun tain national park, north of here, announced that 651,899 persons visited the park during the year ending Sept. 30. This was the great est number of visitors in the history of the resort, showing an .18 4 per cent Increase over last year.
