Back from Portland Mrs. Alan Campbell and daughter Joan have returned to their Medford home from Portland where they spent a week visiting relatives. Here on Business Mr. and Mrs. Francis Byrne, former Grants Pass residents, transacted business and visited friends here today. They ex pect to take up residence between here and Jacksonville, Mr. Byrne hav ing taken over management of a mining operation m Jacksonville. Back from Bend H. C. Obye. assist ant supervisor of the Rogue River national forest, Mrs. Obye and their two children returned yesterday from Bend where they spent the week-end with friends. Mr. Obye left this forenoon for Union Creek and Lake of the Woods where he was to trans act official business. Examiner Coming A state exam iner of operators and chauffeurs will be in Medford tomorrow and Thurs day, as well as Saturday, for the benefit of those wishing permits to drive cars, according to Ward Mc Reynolds, state examiner. He will be at the city hall from 8 to 5 each day. Pilot Hunts Joe Smith, Unite! Air ' Lines pilot and army air corps re serve officer, arrived at Medford mu nicipal airport late yesterday from Se attle, Wash., In a Douglas basic train er. He stored the plane in the han gar and left for Lakcview to Join a party of hunters. He was expetced to return tomorrow. In San Jose Clarenco Toy, former Medford resident is now living in San Jose, Cal., his old home town, where he is engaged in the real estate busi ness. Mr. Toy was formerly affili ated with Del Monte and Is widely known In southern Oregon. He once wrote a series of colorful and inform ative articles for the Mail Tribune on a tour he made of Europe. Minor Accident Cars driven by George H. Drake of route 4 and Clin ton Charley of Eagle Point were In volved in a minor accident one mile north of Central Point on the Pa cific highway yesterday afternoon, a city police report said today. The report stated that the Charley ma chine blew a tire as it passed the Drake car, throwing the former against the latter with minor damage. Carnival Planned Howard school today announced its annual carnival for Friday evening. Each grade will take part in the main event which will include Hallowe'en visitors, movie shorts, a typical day In the school room and two colorful and dramatic plays. Side-shows will feature a dart game, nigger babies, a penny throw, beano and a fish pond. The P.-T.A will have charge of the food counter. Court Citations John Henry Smith, 33. of Phoenix was cited by state police yesterday to appear In Justice court this afternoon on a charge of operating a vehicle with no muffler. Thomas Alonzo Robinson, 19. of Gold Hill was cited to appear in Justice court this afternoon on a charge of failure to transfer a title Involving the sale of an automobile. Sheriff Brown, however, stated that his Investigation had almost positive ly revealed Timothy was last seen walking toward the Rogue tlver In a feeble condition. Also, so far as is known, Timothy had no particular friends In the Sams Valley vicinity. Suffering from a weak heart. Timo thy apent seven months this summer in Community hospital before mov ing, with his wife, to 1105 West Main street to enable them both to be under the care of Miss Watklns. The nurse said today that Timothys dauqhter. Mrs. Millie Prime, and her husband from Iowa had left Medford about a week ago after visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Timothy and helping them get located In their present home. Mrs. Timothy, an Invalid for some time and whose hearing and eyesight have been falling, Is aware that her husband Is gone, but knows none of the details, Miss Watklns explained today. She said that Mrs. Timothy was told Saturday night that her husband had not come home, and with the exception of a severe spell of weeping 8unday, had remained calm and quiet. Leaving his home Saturday after noon. Timothy walked to town and purchased a stage ticket for Oold Hill, remarking to Charley Parmer, local Oreyhound terminal foreman, that he was going to visit friends. Since then, a determined search has been carried on for the aged man and grave concern is felt for his snfety. The telegram said Bowman died aB a result of an automobile acci dent In the Catsklll mountains. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Bowman, Salem, Ore. Bowman had been employed as a song writer by Hollywood studios. He was a Princeton university grad uate. DENTIST'S ASSISTANT FOUND RAVAGED, SLAIN GRAFTON, Ohio. Oct. 10. Until recently Adams was on the Medford schedules of United Air Lines. He was transferred a short time ago from Oakland, Cal,, to Den ver.
