Frankfurter was 12 yeara old and unable to speak a single word of English when bis parents brought him to this country In 1804. Today he la considered an adept conversa tionalist, speaking perfect English with the exception of an occasional thick "s.". Returning to Harvard, Frankfurter began a career which endeared him to liberals. He oppoaed the execu tion of Sacco and Vanzottl. headed a commission which demanded the release of Thomas J.
