Riding to work atop a bus one morning, a sable coat comes sailing out of a window and lands plop right on her head. Things really begin to happen after thp'c. The steno de mands a new hat for the one that was damaged by the coat. She gets It and tongues begin to wag. That leads tft the all-knowing Broadway going hog-wild In an effort to gain the good graces of the former steno ''former" because she loses her Job on account of the scandal. In about throe turns of the wheel she finds horself showered with attention. She's presented with a swank hotel suite. She's sent autos, dogs, finery. A broker offers to open an account for her, and all the time, she has nally. there's a hilarious climax that means lunching at the Automat. The Automat means meeting a bus boy who takes pity on her and stakes her to a stew. Then he's fired and Invited to Join the steno in her dream suite. That still is but the beginning. There's a market crash, caused by the steno's Innocent inquiry of her benefactor what he thinks of steel. There's a battle of wits when she learns why she has been showered with blessings from heaven. And fi nally, there's a hilarious climav that sees everything straightened out to everyone's mutual satisfaction. Bennett became the center today of a bitter dispute over vice in Portland, the mayor chal lenging Bennett to submit asserted "data" on collusion In the police department to the county grand Jury.
