The session will convene at 10:30. Each person attending Is requested to bring an old-fashioned bathing suit. Fenders Crushed Cars driven by Mrs. Allen R. Smith of 906 West Fourth street and Kenneth S. Martin of Grants Pass collided at the inter section of Sixth street and North Central avenue yesterday afternoon, both machines receiving crushed fenders, a city police report stated today. Nobody was injured. Visitors From Topeka Mrs. May belle U. Crlswell and her young daughter Margaret arrived by train Sunday from Topeka, Kas., to visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray" W. Johnson of 617 Nbrth Holly street. The guests will remain here until next Sunday when they will leave for Portland where they will make their home. Mrs. Crlswell is Mr. Johnson's mother. Assisting Campers Youthful campers at Lake of the WoodB tills year are receiving help from members of the staff of Hugh Ritter. district ranger of the Rogue River national forest. Tarney Steward have returned from a trip to Los Angeles and San Fran cisco where they attended the fall style marts and ordered autumn mer chandise for Adrienne's stores here and In Klamath Falls. Fire Crew Reluming The Apple gate flre-flghtlng contingent drafted last week to assist In controlling he timber fire near Randle. Wash., will arrive back tomorrow. Rogue River national forest headquarters were In formed this morning. No word, was received regarding the return of the South Pork crew and executive per sonnel sent from here to the fire lines. On Field Trips Four members of the executive personnel of the Rogue River national forest were on field trips today, Karl L. Janouch, super visor, Is making a general Inspection; H. C. Obye, assistant supervisor, to day consulted Laurence Espey. pro ject superintendent at Camp South Fork, regarding fire control; Paul Brlnson, Junior forester, was on a timber cruising mission, and Cordy Sunderman, recreation foreman, was engaged In recreational planning at Fish lake and Lake of the Woods. CREWS SERVICES 10:30 WEDNESDAY AT PERL CHAPEL Funeral services for Judge Wren E. Crews, 76, who died at his home yesterday following a long Illness, will be held from the Perl funeral chapel at 10:30 tomorrow morning. Prof. A. J. Honby. a lifelong friend of the Judge, will officiate. Inter ment will be in Siskiyou Memorial ceme'ery. Judge Crews came to Medford In 1010, and had practiced law here con tinuously since that time. Previous to that, he had practiced in Seattle for 10 years and In Juneau, Alaska, for four years. At Juneau, he was the first exalted ruler of the Elks lodge, and held a lifetime member ship in the organization. He was a graduate of the Univer sity of Oregon law school In 1885, and was one of the first law stu dents to attend the Institution. Besides his wife, he is survived by two brothers, John Crews of Gold Hill and William Crews of Bothel, Waah., also a nephew, Wren Crews of Pnlem, Ore. EUROPEAN TRIP AT ROTARY LUNCHEON Amos Voorhte. veteran newspaper publisher of Grants Pass, entertained members of the Medford Rotary club at their luncheon meeting today with a description of his visit to Europe and the colorful convention of Rotary International at Nice, Italy. A large gathering or Ro tartans and guests enjoyed Mr. Voorhies account of bis trip to Europea on the Hai nan superllner. "Roma"; of his visit to the island of Madeira, with its picturesque red-roofed white-washed houses and unique bullock carts, and his stops at such ports as Casablanca In northern Africa, Algiers and Gib raltar. On the voyage to the Rotary con clave, the Roma passed through waters affected by the Spanish revo lution and warships of many nations were numerous, Voorhies told the Ro tarlans. The speaker lauded the cordial hospitality of Nice, famous tourist mecca on the Mediterranean. The city was brilliantly decorated, parks were colorful with flowers and night illumination effects, and the many fine hotels were bedecked with Ro tary colors. An Interesting feature of the elaborate program was an "Oregon dinner," attended by the generous-sized delegation from this state. Fireworks, floral parades, in ceptions and other entertainment fea. tures filled the strenuous convention program for nearly 7000 debates and their families. "Wartalk Is prevalent throughout Europe," Mr. Voorhies told the Ro tarlans in concluding his impressions of the several countries he visited while on the three months' trip. At a recent council meeting It was stated that unconflrmable rumors placed the annual gross receipts from the 88 plnball machines 189, 000. On Percentage. Majority of the machines In Jack son county are operated on a per centage basis between the distributor and the owner of the establishment. It is estimated there are 500 ma chines In the county. Some owners of establishments own their own machined and garner the entire profits. Some places have as high as 10 machines. They are to be found In rural area stores, some ser vice stations, restaurants, pool halls, beer parlors, cigar stores, soft-drink establishments, hotel lobbies, and summer resorts. The devices have been widely dis tributed, and enjoyed a heavy play from all classes, and all ages. Many small business concerns claimed the profits paid the rent, and enabled them to weather the depression. The machines seldom lost money and if one did, It was replaced.
