Mrs. Carey la Lee Oarlock's sister-in-law. Grass Fire The fire department's chemical crew was called out last evening to extinguish a grass blase at Riverside avenue and Manzanlta street. The fire was attributed to some boys who were playing with matches. Chief Roy Elliott issued a warning against carelessness, empha sizing that the hazardous season Is now here and the utmost of caution is required to prevent serious fires. Home from Nary Arthur A- Hoff man, son of Mrs. Myrtle perns of route 4. Is at home on a brief leave of absence from the United States navy. He has Just completed a 16-weeks' course of study at the electrical ord nance schpol for which he was select ed when he finished his three months preliminary preparation at the San Diego training station. He enlisted in the navy last December 18. The course he has Just completed Included gunnery theory, practical gunnery, aviation ordnance theory and prac tice, use of hand tools and torpedo garding mutual cooperation arrange ments. The association is composed of timber operators organized for the prevention and suppression of fire on their holdings and private lands with in their operating areas. Lees of Central Point, is spending an 18-day leave of absence from the United States navy at his home. At present he la servinc on the Arctic, a supply hip now at San Francisco. Since enlisting In the navy on August 13. 1935. Lees has been In every maor west coast port. Panama and the Hawaiian and Samoan islands. He said he likes his naval career. World Tour Ends Dr. and Mrs. C. O. Ooldsbcrry of Central Point re turned last night from an extensive Journey around the world. They left here February 28 and sailed a short time afterward from New York on the Queen Mary. They travelled through Europe and then sailed for the Far East, going via the 8uer canal. Their itllnerary Included such places as India, Burma, Straits Settlement, China, the Philippines and Japan. The Journey ended with a trans-Pa-clflc voyage to Seattle.
