Grass Fire The fire department's
chemical crew was called out last
evening to extinguish a grass blase
at Riverside avenue and Manzanlta
street. The fire was attributed to
some boys who were playing with
matches. Chief Roy Elliott issued a
warning against carelessness, empha
sizing that the hazardous season Is
now here and the utmost of caution
is required to prevent serious fires.

course of study at the electrical ord

preliminary preparation at the San
Diego training station. He enlisted
in the navy last December 18. The
course he has Just completed Included
gunnery theory, practical gunnery,
aviation ordnance theory and prac
tice, use of hand tools and torpedo
garding mutual cooperation arrange
ments. The association is composed
of timber operators organized for the
prevention and suppression of fire on
their holdings and private lands with
in their operating areas. The forest
service and the association work co
operatively In their lire control pro
grams. After completing his business
in Klamath Falls, Mr. Obye la to
make an inspection of the protective
force at Lake of the Woods. He is
expected to return to Medford Sat
urday. During his absence he keeps

Hawaiian and Samoan islands. He
said he likes his naval career. Hj

World Tour Ends Dr. and Mrs. C.
O. Ooldsbcrry of Central Point re
turned last night from an extensive
Journey around the world. They left
here February 28 and sailed a short
time afterward from New York on the
Queen Mary. They travelled through
Europe and then sailed for the Far
East, going via the 8uer canal. Their
itllnerary Included such places as
India, Burma, Straits Settlement,
China, the Philippines and Japan.
The Journey ended with a trans-Pa-clflc
voyage to Seattle. Dr. Gold
berry said he would resume hla den
tal practice In a couple of days, being
temporarily associated with Dr. L. L.
Sanders in the Medford Center build
ing until he acquires offices of his
own.

assumed leadership of the upward
climb, slipped as offerings accumu
lated. Utilities were resistant, but
the rails, alter accumulating modest
gains, tilted backward at the finish.
Trading was active In the early
hours, then sloped off only to pick
up again toward the close. Trans

The now-famous newsreel that
shows the clash between strikers and
police Memorial Day near the Repub
lic steel plant, South Chicago, and
banned from public showing, has
had the ban lifted and the reel,
complete In every detail without
cutting, la at the Rial to theater for
today and tomorrow only.
When It was learned that one
cameraman stayed on the scene.
while all the others left for the
Indianapolis races, the civil liberties
committee of the U. 8. senate, in
an effort to get all the details of
the clash, appropriated the reel for
official scrutiny and It was sup
pressed from publlo showing. Now
that strike fever has somewhat
abated, the suppression has been
lifted and the complete reel, exactly
as shown at the Inquiry, Is being re
leased for the general public.
