During the current fiscal year, WFA spent approximately H, 860,000. The reduction in fund will require the dismissal of thousands of relief work ers each week between now and July 15. Harry L. Effective with the landing of the great-winged plane at 10 :46 a. m.. Medford was added as a, dally atop on the Malnllner schedule which places this city only three hours from .San Francisco, five hours from Los Angeles, one and one-half hours from Portland and three hours from Se attle. Medford's addition as a stvp on the Malnllner service cams with United ! inauguration of a third daily round trip Pacific coast schedule. To this city, the move brings the largest and most luxurious transports ever to serve southern Oregon. It was only as far beck as Septem ber IS. 1936. that Medford helped In augurate airmail service over the Pa cific coast airway. As contrasted with the 90-mlle-an-hour, open-cock-pit planes used at that time; United new Malnllners cruise at 190 miles an hour with a full load or 21 passen gers, crew of three, baggage, mall and express, while using only 63 prr cent of their available horsepower. Colo., home to Beverly Hilts. Calif. The Jury which last night found Hunt guilty returned a verdict ac quitting his ca-defendnnts, Mrs. Ag nes Oardner, Mrs. Elisabeth Peters and H. B. Smith. Federal Judge Leon Yankwlch set next Friday as a date for sentencing Hunt and hearing pleas for a new trial. Hunt faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison. 'I doubt If there Is anything In the record to warrant granting a new trial." Judge Yankwlch told Hugh McBeth. Hunt's negro attorney. When the verdict was returned. Hunt, whose attitude has been one of great confidence and nonchalance, asked rhetorically: Why cannot these poor unfortu nate Individuals understand me?' McBeth referred to the defendants in his closing arguments as "these four sftps."
